With today's passing rules, how many catches could Rice have in a season?

No. I can't fathom what he would do in today's NFL.

I think it would be more interesting to see how many TDs he would rack up.

Dude had 22 TD catches in only 12 games in 1987. Randy Moss, 20 years later, needed all 16 games to get 23.

Rice led the NFL in receptions only twice during his career. He led the league in yards and TD catches six times each during his career, though.

More a yardage and scoring guy than strictly a possession receiver like a Wes Welker or Colston.

Not at all. Antonio Brown and Julio both had 136 last year.

It's hard for me to believe that if you replaced Jerry Rice with Antonio Brown or Julio Jones and gave them the same amount of targets they wouldn't have about the same production.

Brown is definitely the best route runner since Rice. Marvin Harrison might have something to say about that, but I think Brown is better.

Jerry Rice would not dominate in today's era. Players are too big and too fast nowadays. He would be an average player.

The NFL did not start keeping WR Target stats until 1992. The most Rice was ever thrown to after then was 176 times in 1995. Antonio Brown was the target 167 times in 2013, 181 times in 2014 and 193 times in 2015. Julio Jones was the target 163 times in 2014 and 2015. Shouldn't they be more productive now? Neither comes close to Rice at catching TDs. Rice's career yards per catch is 1.3 better than Brown's despite playing in an era less passing friendly.

Replacing Jerry Rice with anyone would have been taking a step backward. He is the best to ever play the game.
