Did he just call a timeout to empty his bench with 10 minutes left?

Uploaded my pic to postimages.org and copied and pasted the link but it didn’t work. Sitting right behind the McNeese bench. Total annihilation. Quite a few Cowboys fans made the jaunt over (unless they live in H-Town.) Sharp Gymnasium is 61 years old. There might be 500 here.

The General has more McNeese fans traveling to Houston for a road than probably attended home games last year.

The man creates enthusiasm and fan interest. Holding his introductory press conference at LSU in the student union to be with the students was an all time classic move.

His boss, who hired him this past spring, has already ripped up his contract and given him more money only 20 games into his tenure at McNeese because he’s done such a great job.

And because he wanted a better buyout for Mcneese when somebody bigger comes calling.

True. Wade and the McNeese AD are helping each other out.

But if Will Wade was going with the 3 year plan to reach the middle of the pack (like other Louisiana schools) there would be no need for the new contract. The epic turnaround in one season at McNeese has college ADs around the country checking Wade’s agent for interest.

As they should if they truly value a winning program and an increase in fan and student engagement.

It's a testament to Wade's recruiting abilities. Of course, they haven't played a team with atop 70 net, but I also haven't seen his name mentioned for any of the potential big openings.

I honestly think it'll be another year before anyone who piques Wade's interest comes calling. That may change if he can win a couple of games in the NCAA Tournament. He will need to win the Southland conference tournament to get in most likely but I expect him to do that.

He’s great at roster building. Getting all the pieces to fit into what he wants his teams to look like. He doesn’t just grab “the best player available”. He finds guys to fill roles.

It's an interesting dilemma for a coach. You probably go best available wholesale if you have nearly no one of caliber for your conference on your roster and if you have no significant needs. Those two are rarities. This means you may have to pass up a better player at a position you are solid in to pursue a player that fills a need. You don't turn him down, necessarily, you just don't prioritize his recruitment. That can be hard to resist. Especially in basketball, where, with the portal now, every player seems like they may leave after the season.
