of conference or playoff races?

I feel like we are about to see a turning point in this whole process.

It's about time the entire thing come crumbling down. College football as a pseudo minor league was always going to be a ticking time bomb. The select few kids that are obvious NFL talents as seniors in high school should be allowed to be drafted as such and placed in a proper minor / developmental league. It's extremely un-American that they aren't eligible.

They should. I actually think these guys should just practice and train for the draft. That's it. If you have the talent, there isn't any reason to jeopardize the millions of dollars. Focus on school, practice, and training.

Ideally, yes

But I doubt most are smart enough to realize as much

Hopefully, expose the system!

As long as everyone else is getting paid in dollars and not the players, I'm all for it. Sun Bowl, CFP, skip an entire season. I can't blame any player for doing any of that.

Is this going to be another thread where people whine and cry about college players not being paid

No.

Bowl games are fairly meaningless exhibitions, and players, particularly running backs who have a high injury risk and a short pro lifespan, aren't going to risk millions so some city's tourism slightly improves. Skipping out on regular season games is a totally different thing.

If LSU wins or loses the Citrus, there is no consequence. Even if the playoffs aren't at stake, there is consequence to losing to A&M.

How was the A&M game not a meaningless game for LSU though?

Seemed like it only effected Orgeron

I agree. But if you extrapolate that, isn't all of college football meaningless? Why should LF have played a single down his Junior season?

That's where we're headed.

People will try to spin that it will effect the offseason. Which it really won't. The local talking heads are in need of material to talk about.

But like you said, Bowl games are pretty meaningless. Unless you are in a NY6 bowl appearance imo.

No, we're not headed there. The slippery slope is a logical fallacy.

Players won't skip out on regular season games without consequence because the fanbase values those regular season rivalries. We don't value a Citrus Bowl win. Fans would riot if Fournette willingly sat out against Ole Miss or someone like that, but we'll give a pass to Louisville. We don't really care, and the season is over anyway. He's reading the fanbase correctly (as is McCaffery).

Not to those who otherwise could not afford to attend college. Some kids play for the love of the game while getting an education. Others are just buying time for a future payday.

Schools wil and should start charging the cost of their scholarship to players who don't do what they were brought to the school for.

Why does LF care if the LSU fans riot? Why do NFL execs that would be drafting him care?

It will happen eventually. Not all players care what fans think of them. Especially in this crazy day and age where fans shite on players so much.
