Why would Jerry Jones step down as GM?

I see this brought up that he should all the time, which i agree with from a football point of view. But from a personal view, the dude has all the money in the world, its clear that the cowboys are his favorite thing and he loves having a say in the team. He really hasnt done a terrible job of assembling talent, they just havent been able to build a true identity and put their talent together. When i hear people say he should step down i think what motivation could he possibly have to do so. He loves the spotlight and being gm of the cowboys is the only thing that can keep him in the headlines year in and year out
