Why isn't there a 4 and 5 point play in the NFL?

So we have a 1 point and 2 point play after a touchdown and a 2 point play for a safety, 3 point play for a FG and then 6 pts for a TD..., where's the 4 and 5 pt play?

Make a FG over 55 yds 4 pts and a FG over 65 yds 5 pts Let's see how coaches deal with the strategy of adding those two scoring options into the game and how much kickers start making per year, now the NFL would take off in Europe, kickers would be as valuable as a good RB or receiver. Nah, changed my mind, frick kickers!

Why isn't there a five point play in basketball? There's a one point play, two point play, three point play, and a four point play.... stupid question

A safety should be worth more IMO.

1 point extra point
2 point conversation
3 point FG
4 point safety
6 point touchdown

I'm higher than a giraffes arse and it just hit me while watching the Rose Bowl of some way to make this game more exciting.

Alright, here's the 4 pt play, interception or fumble recovery on a failed two point conversion and the other team takes it back for a 4 pt play rather than 2.

The only rule change I would make, as far as point values are concerned, would be to increase a safety to three points.

But I don't feel too strongly about it.

why not count 90+ yard touchdown plays 9 points, 80+/8pts,....etc. Because that is not the game and it is not broken. Point scoring is not the problem in any sporting event. Inconsistent and unclear rules are the problem. Also suspension rulings.

Nah, this NFL football shite is too boring, we need to add some more variables into the game and drive the frickin coaches completely nuts and it would also help to justify their multi million dollar salaries.

Because it's basically always been done that way.

The funny thing is, most will say this is a terrible idea. But in reality, if a 50+ yard FG or a 50+ yard TD gave you a couple more points, and it had just always been like that, that's what we'd be used to and someone suggesting or wondering why we don't do a different way(like the way we actually do it) would be mocked for thinking that.

It's just what we've always known.

You're not playing along, I'm wondering why there was never any plays that scored 4 and 5 pts when there are plays that have 1,2,3 and 6pts. How did we go from 3 to six and just tell 4 and 5 frick you, y'all are not invited to the party. I think there is a conspiracy in here somewhere!

Field goals over 50 yards should be worth 4 points.

And in basketball, all shots made from beyond the midcourt line should be worth 4 points too.

Would make things a lot more interesting.

touchdowns used to be 4 and then 5 points 100 years ago... in the days of Pudge Heffelfinger

Scenario:

LSU 17
Auburn 13

Auburn has 4th and Goal at the LSU 20 following a sack. 20 seconds left. You would see them take three delay of games for a chance at a four-point FG. Nah...

Yeah, that FG would need to be over 55 yds if I was placing the point value on the 4 point kick and over 65 yds for a 5 point but your right it would probably be a better chance making a FG over 55 for 4 pts than a TD from the 20 in a 4th and goal situation. It will never happen but I'm sure the rules committee would limit penalties to move the kicker back for the longer kick.
