Is it the length of the game?

It's not as popular with the kids/teens/adults as the NFL or NBA.

I personally love it for multiple reasons, whether it be the good times spent watching it with my old man or just the simple chess match between the hitter and pitcher.

Just sucks to see such an amazing sport getting more and more ignored.

Have no idea what you're talking about. MLB easily more popular than NBA.

Soccer is too, no doubt.

Baseball's season is too long and at least half of the teams are eliminated by the all-star break.

If the Indians are relevant I'll pay attention, other than that, I'd rather read a book or play a video game than watch baseball.

-Too many games
-Too many teams that don't compete (Royals, Pirates, etc)
-Doesn't translate as well to TV as other sports
-Doesn't translate as well to video games as other sports

MLB is a dying game - 162 games per season is entirely too long of a season. Only 8 teams get into the post season, so most of the teams are out of the playoff race by end of July. Just my opinion on a couple issues with the game.

If not a 162 game season, what length is appropriate? 100?

Baseball isn't dying. Just because some of you don't enjoy it does not translate to it being a fading sport. It is most definitely second to the NFL at this time but still well ahead of the NBA.

I'd be willing to bet you the world series got fewer ratings than the NBA finals.

I remember seeing here a while ago a list of ratings someone posted. A list of like 25+, and MLB was like 2 of them.

I wasn't aware baseball was dying. It's the nation's second most popular sport, a position it was relegated to over 30 years ago.

I don't think it's dying at all.

I think the best pennant races are always up until the last month at least.

Season is just fine in terms of length to me. If there's too many games, hey guess what, no one said you had to watch them all. No one said you had to watch baseball period.

oh, and Go Yankees.

Seems a lot of parents are pushing soccer over baseball because of safety and cost IMO

I personally just don't enjoy baseball. The sport is too slow for me to get into. I will watch LSU during baseball season and will even go to some games because going to Alex Box with my kids is a good time.

Baseball doesn't really translate well to TV, but is great in person and on radio.

Also, just because it isn't popular with the blacks, doesn't mean it's not as popular otherwise. The most played youth sport is still baseball by FAR.

If you haven't noticed, the NBA is closer to going broke and belly up than the MLB. Now, the NFL is unparalleled mainly due to it's violence (entertainment) and good tv translation.

Besides, our youth now has less attention span, thus that really hurts baseball too, as it is seen as "slow."

please explain why you believe it's dying, because it appears that most (myself included) don't believe it is at all

MLB hasn't been in the state the NBA is in in quite some time and definitely not 5 years ago.

i said they paid players too much

the NBA has tried to go more the NFL route (as opposed to the MLB route) in terms of revenue sharing and salary caps

the NBA has tried hard to prevent what ended up happening last offseason, as well as preventing the cubans and nolans of the world from becoming another steinbrenner. what it's done is raise the salaries across the board, and fricked the entire league

there are no kansas city royals in the NBA, and that may be a bad thing for the NBA (even though they perceived it to be good)
