Why doesn't Connecticut like Geno Auriemma?

Sorry for starting an offseason thread about women's basketball. I just thought this was strange and was wondering if there was a reason for this.

Wasn't there some feud between him and Calhoun? And I could be wrong, but I feel like he has called out fans before for not caring about his team (not that I can blame them).

From everything I've heard, this.

That being said, a lot of great coaches are and no one is going to say much after he breaks Summit's win record in 6-7 years to cement his place as the greatest Women's College Basketball Coach of All Time.

not sure he's better than Summit. it's tough because the talent disparity in WCBB is ginormous. maybe the biggest in any major college sport

You don't think there was the same talent disparity during Coach Summit's era?

It was worse during Summit's years as it was just starting...hell in the 1970's tiny Catholic school Immaculata won 3 National Titles.

Summit started winning in an era in the 80's when all you needed was one great player...like USC won 2 Natty's with just one player in the 80's.

The problem now is there are a lot lot lot more players and far better players - but Geno stacks the team with the elite - he gets most of the elite and the elite one's in Women's is a small number.

He is a whiney little man who thinks that because his womens team is good, he is better than Wooden. Never will be. Pretty sure the Boys high school team from Fla. that just won the championship tourney could beat them.

Damn Title IX

We should can non-revenue producing sports.

I love layups as much as the next guy, but literally that's the entire WBB game. Pass it to the tallest woman, have her lay it up.

That's it.

It's a waste of energy and money.

I'm sure there's a ton of people in CT that love UCONN men's basketball and despise the pub the women get. Throw in his shitty attitude and it makes sense.

They were not friends, that is for sure. I know Calhoun was pretty ornery, but Auriemma is a little bitch who picks fights with women in his profession. Guy must have no more than five friends in the world.

I broke my femur in two places once... It still wasn't as painful as watching women's basketball
