Why Does Womens Division 1 softball struggle with fundamentals so much?

I have seen more base running blunders in the WCWS and more bone headed errors in the field than I ever thought I would see for this being the best 8 teams in the country. Division 1 womens basketball teams are great at fundamentals and probably better than Div. 1 mens basketball in terms of minimal turnovers, better free throw shooters and stupid plays like double dribble and walking and I just can't understand why womens softball players panic so much or really don't know the rules and strategy that well. Thoughts?

Lol women's basketball is the worst sport ever. There's one or two girls @ the college level that can actually play basketball.

It does. Shorter basepaths causes runners to take more chances and rushes fielders.

I've never seen so many misread fly balls. In the past two or three weeks watching post season softball, the most obvious thing I noticed was the inability to track a fly ball.

I saw the UF baseball team run themselves into a double play the other day and neither out was a force out.

I don't care about fundamentals. I was watching the auburn game last night. They've got some legit talent on that team. I'm talking about OT 8.5 talent.

My main complaint is all the lefties running out of the box while they swing. I get the strategy of it, but it doesn't seem to work any better than standing in there and taking a full cut. Most of the time they end up letting the ball go by for a strike
