They're only 10 to 1 at MGM I believe as of this morning b/c they took a $1,000 bet at 40 to 1. We still had them at 30 to 1 earlier. The odds only change when people place bets, not because Vegas knows something. The books are exposed right now with the Spurs, Bulls and Cavs so their odds all dropped.

A bunch of people were betting on Cavs at high odds so they lowered them

Yep. The idea is for the losers to pay the winners and the book to make money off the vig.

How nice would it be to get the inside scoop that Bron was going to the 6ers and fire a couple grand down with the 650/1 odds

You'd just lose a couple grand because nobody could lead that shite show to a championship next year

Pretty sure they may have more cap space than anyone. or close to the bottom... also some promising young players.

They could make a big slash in FA and get Bron and another Max and I could see them pulling off the 650/1

am i way off base?

A good mount of people don't know how Vegas odds work. Their odds don't show what they think the chance of said team winning the ship is. The odds are made according to the amount of money being placed on said odds. A bunch of people started throwing money at the cavs to win at 60 to 1 in case LeBron ended up there. Vegas sees this so they lower the odds so people will slow down or start betting the other side. If people all of a sudden started throwing money at the sixers to win it all they would change those odds to even the money out

So you are saying if a vegas insider caught wind that lebron started leaning towards the 76ers they wouldn't touch the line one bit right... nope... but once people started putting 20K at 650/1 then they would decide to move it a little

I get what you are saying and I don't think most on this board are as dumb as you think. I think most understand bets moving lines and hedging and so forth.... but to say some inside scoop wouldn't move a line is rediculous

Lot of casual fans putting money on it. Casino directors already said that's why. Basic betting principles-more money on one side makes the line go the other way. This line in no way represents that someone in the know thinks it could happen.
