re: Why does everyone keep saying Ohio state is clearly the better team?

This is what you are missing:
Conference Championship games were made to earn $. They also happen to match up 2 pretty good teams usually. The give the committee a 13th data point, a point that will break ties when teams who are close. Only when teams are "at the margins" as defined by the playoff committee will they take conference titles and head to head into account, along with SOS and common opponents (which OSU wins both of those 2 metrics btw). OSU and PSU are not at the margins according to the committee. The committee chair was asked 2 weeks ago if they were close and the chair said no. After that comment, OSU beat Michigan. That made the chasm larger. It admittedly closed a bit last night, but I don't believe it closed close to enough.
If I'm wrong I will happily eat crow (well not happily)

Having the "wrong loss" is what prevented Va Tech from getting in to the BCS Natty in '07 but because LSU beat them head to head, they got the nod. Same case here-when resumes are comparable, you have to consider the head to head matchup which PSU won. Sorry that it's inconvenient for OSU, but precedent has been set!

Agreed. Resumes are NOT comparable to the committee

To say the resumes are not comparable is absurd

Agreed
OSU better wins
Less losses
PSU head to head win
Big 10 title
Best individual win
What is so confusing on how someone could see PSU as the better resume?
It's just another game.
What it comes down to is wins and losses.
The fact is, and you agree with this, is that OSU has better wins and losses. End of story. You admit that yourself.

It's completely accurate to say that.

That's not the case here with OSU and PSU.
Head to head is used as a tie-breaker... it's not relevant when one team has a better record.

They won the conference title, they won the head to head. To me, the rest doesnt matter. I think winning the conference should be a prerequisite for making the playoffs. It makes it completely objective and finite. The whole "eyeball test" is stupid and full of bias.

Last 6 games
oh.. that settles it. Only go by last 6 games
osu has same amount of wins
osu one loss (penn state 2)
osu 3 top 10 wins
osu a big ooc win
osu only loss to penn state by flukey fg
penn state no big ooc win
penn statw 2 loss (pittsburg and blew out by mich)

In 2014, OSU was on fire. And it made sense that they got the nod because they were playing great football
And so is PSU right now.
To be fair, 2014 OSU is an argument for PSU.
PSU has won 9 straight games.

No it doesn't.

How does no one on this planet grasp that one loss is far superior to two losses?
If that's all that matters WMU is #2
