Most people enjoy viewing sports when they are at performed at the peak levels. (I don't see stadiums filled to watch pop warner football) So why is it that people wouldn't allow performancing enhancing drugs in sports (assuming no legal reprecussions)?

-I guess there is a desire to see peaks of the natural limits but people taking PEDs would still be pushing the limit of the human body.

-As far as the even playing field, if everyone could take PEDs, everyone is on equal playing field and the best would still stand out.

Some have this need to believe that whatever age they grew up in was "pure." In reality, participants have utilized shortcuts in sporting events as long as they've been in existence. I don't know how people delineate the "pure" eras from now because no one knows who was cheating back then.

You can go further with some and say, without steroids some proved they were of the best ever even among men using steroids. (Barry Bonds)

I think there are a lot of misconceptions about PEDs, while most will deny it, i think a lot of people think it works like the Mr Hyde or the Hulk, that someone just takes this stuff and presto he becomes some other worldly beast. Some of it goes back to the Cold War and the Olympics.

because it's against the rules and regardless of whether the majority are doing it or not it taints the game(s) when the rules are knowingly broken. change the rules if you want peds.

Because there are some side effects that you are essentially forcing everyone to risk just to have an equal playing field. It's one thing to tell someone that they need to sacrifice their time to become the best. It's another thing to tell someone that they need to sacrifice the size of their balls to become the best.

a legality should refer to the law where as my comment was referencing the rules of the game- those are two different things.

Baseball was better when McGuire and Sosa and Bonds were juicing like they were on a colon cleanse and were crushing 70 HRs a year

That's a fact

Exactly.

If the best player in the world is reduced to an also-ran because he doesn't want the negative consequences of a known harmful substance, that's not right IMO.

I don't know about vilify but baseball is a better game without them. It's returning to a game of young athletic players instead of Guys bulking up to hit 50+ bombs a year. Home runs are cool but they are overrated. They are over as soon as they begin. Give me a triple or a guy going from first to third on a single or scoring from second on a double. Give me the left fielder making a great diving catch in the gap or down the foul line.

Lots of misconceptions about PEDs, which make them illegal in this country. Some steroids are less harmless than alcohol and even multivitamins, but are illegal anyway. Makes zero sense. But since they're illegal by law, they'll obviously be illegal in an American sport.

I have no problem with PEDs to help athletes heal with proper medical supervision. I do have a problem with PEDs becoming standard issue for every player (which they would be because competition). Having every high schooler thinking they have to take PEDs to make it to the next level seems like a really bad idea.

Just build everyone an Iron Man suit already...why worry with petty PED's. Damn...what a fricked up stance and to not be able to see right and wrong on this subject is even more fricked up. Cheat if you must but don't ask for respect...at least not from me. Thieves...all of them.

ETA: BTW...If they're all clean, is that not also a level playing field?

well, they aren't "illegal" provided you have a legit medical prescription, pursuant to a medical diagnosis....

under dosing guidelines and the care of a licensed physician, sure...

even multivitamins

no... hell no... patently false...
