A couple of dark horse names are Dave moorcroft and steve cram. But bannister would be my choice.....ok Eddie the Eagle.

Solid choice if they select Bannister. I wouldn't discount Redgrave either, he is Britains greatest Olympian with 5 consecutive gold metal Olympics from '1984-2000.
