Which Louisiana team (besides LSU) will have the best season

I don't really follow anyone in state besides Tulane and LSU. Here's my thoughts based on what I've researched on these teams:

La Tech: will probably have the best season, Although they will likely regress with the losses of Vernon Butler, Jeff Driskel, and Kenneth Dixon. They return some weapons on offense, a good O line, and will be lead by a veteran QB. They should be be pretty good on that side of the ball. They lose a lot on defense, especially Butler who was a first rounder. This could hold them back, and they could get off to a rough start with 3 out of their first 4 games on the road. I think they go 7-5.

ULL: This is a tough one because you don't know what kind of impact Jennings could make. ULL was on a nice run, but they ran into a brick wall last season. The offense took a step back and the defense was really bad. Mark Hudspeth is a good coach though. He's done a lot for that program and I wouldn't be surprised if they bounced back. They will need Jennings to put the team on his back and Elijah McGuire to return to 2013-14 type production. Need to get better on defense. Prediction: 6-6

Tulane: I believe Curtis Johnson tried, but he couldn't coach and his "state of Tulane" recruiting strategy didn't work. Enter Willie Fritz - who is bringing a new system and is trying to change the losing culture of Tulane football. He inherits a good group of tailbacks, but there is no depth anywhere else on the offense, and whoever wins the starting QB job will either be a freshman or has never started in college. The offense can't be any worse than it was last season, and same goes for the defense. They were 110th in scoring defense, although they were on the field the entire game when the offense was going 3-and-out. I think Fritz will turn the program around, but it will take some time. I hate to say this but I'm just being honest: 4-8

ULM: I don't know how anyone is supposed to win here, no disrespect intended. You have to be on your A game with recruiting and find the "diamonds in the rough." I think they made the right hire in Matt Viator, he's a winner with good inroads to Louisiana HS programs. I'm not familiar with ULM's team, but when you go 2-11, it's safe to say you have no talent. Viator may be up to the challenge, but he'll have a tough time year one. Many people say this is one of the toughest jobs in the FBS. Prediction: 2-10

Tech will have the best team, ULL could have the best record.

Being honest would be to expect 3 wins tops, based on what we know right now. The QB question mark could turn into a plus, but that cannot be expected at this point.

It will not be ULM. For some reason it's been the recent strategy to recruit HEAVILY from out of state, while kids who are good enough from the Monroe and even Shreve/Bossier area go overlooked. I'm really hoping Viator puts more of an emphasis on recruiting local talent.

Kids in North La would rather go to Ruston or Lafayette. ULM needs to try to fix that. Change the perception in town.

Man I am excited for their football season. I know the Georgia & South Alabama games won't be pleasant, but hopefully they can make some noise in the SLC.

Right, but it's still hard enough for me to predict a 4-8 season. Give me some slack

I don't have any expectations for year one. Fact is we are really bad and unless Fritz is a miracle worker that's not going to change right away. However, I would like to see some progress: more disciplined play, less penalties, less blown coverages, etc.

It's a tough call man. It's not gonna be Tulane or ULM

I'd say LaTech but UL-L could do something with Jennings, he has some skills and could make them better but whew it's not gonna be pretty for most schools.

No offense man but I can't see Tulane winning even four, that's a reach. Thought CJ would do better and leave better but uh no.

I know nothing of Nichools, mcNeese etc...will one of them be the best other than LSU?

None taken

I agree with the poster above, there is some unknown with Tulane, but the known weaknesses are dreadful. I'm not even getting into special teams ...

I'm expecting a rebound season from the Cajuns but I don't expect anything miraculous.

By the way, what's the outlook on getting tickets to the UL at Tulane game? Should be very highly attended, we travel very well to New Orleans obviously. But how hard should I expect it to be to buy tickets to that game at Turchin?

I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to get tickets, it should be attended well but it probably won't be standing room only. The hardest part about going to a game there is finding a place to park.

BTW: I think you meant Yulman. Turchin is the baseball stadium.

Ahh shite you're right. I'm a baseball guy first so Turchin was top of mind haha. Looking forward to checking out Tulane's new stadium though.

I like the new stadium. I feel like they did a pretty good job and its a much better fit for Tulane than the cavernous superdome. They sell alcohol too

.... I might need it this year

FWIW, Tulane QB Devin Powell just transferred there. He's not a world-beater but he did win a couple games as a starter. He has a good arm and put up decent numbers when he got a chance

McNeese State is the correct answer... They have a H2H against ULL in Lafayette on Sept 10 which should be a good game.

I think they will finish 10-2 this season or maybe 9-3... that will probably be better than any of the aforementioned teams.
