When will an NBA player dare to wear shorter shorts again?

It seems like NBA players of late are very fashion forward. You have guys like Kevin Love, David Lee, Chandler Parsons, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade who have been in or on the cover of GQ, who dress very stylishly, etc.

Stroll through your local Nordstroms or Bloomingdales and check out the mens swimtrunks this season.... Board shorts are very 2004 and the new trend is mid-thigh swim trunks. I actually just got a pair of these Armani beauties on Gilt that I'm going to rock in Miami over 4th of July...

NBA uniforms will look so much better when the long dopey gangsta shorts start to fade away and these beauties come back...

CLASSIC / AWESOME

DUMB / OUTDATED / THUGGISH

Sure they do - players can get the shorts whatever way they want to... Just go to your team's Adidas (or Nike beginning whenever) rep/contact and tell them that you need them shorter. Would totally be doable. Derek Fisher actually did it for a year or so later on his Lakers tenure (as did Meta World Peace) but unfortunately it didn't catch on. It also didn't look great b/c his jersey was too baggy. You need the jersey to be more fitted if you're going with the shorter shorts.

So you think watching men run around in really short shorts is awesome?

I was going to say Artest definitely rocked the shorter versions. Not as short as back in the 80s but still above the knee.

Dude, I like this thread and I believe I have raised this before here. It will happen. I say within 5 years some college team will do it as a goof.

Nobody rocked them. They wore them. By definitions shorts are short. The current ones are mediums.

Shorts this baggy are super rare. That picture is like 4 teams ago for Jameer Nelson.

Look at any picture of NBA players from this past year and it will be very hard to find anyone wearing super baggy shorts

CDR wore some short shorts this year

A lot of the OP's comments felt a little racist too tbh

I agree - I think that length looks best, maybe a little shorter or longer defending on the real-world fashion trends but that should be the happy medium.

When I went to an LSU game a couple of years ago when we had Stringer and Mickey, their shorts were (and I'm not even exaggerating here) the most retarded thing I've seen in my entire 30+ years on the planet.

I can't seem to find a picture of them where it looks as bad as they were that day (it was v's Marquette in Milwaukee) and they were literally down to their mid calves and you could have fit 8 human legs in each hole. Was so dumb.

Hopefully never. I don't want to see gigantic men wearing daisy dukes.

When more white players start making rosters... NBA or ABC doesn't need another fine.

NBA players haven't worn baggy shorts in years. Above the knee is popular now.
