When Meyer "quit" UF, did he know OSU was coming open the next year?

A UF fan in my office said I was being blind in this whole thing.

I think it was impossible at the end of the 2010 season to KNOW that Tressel would not be the coach at OSU in 2012, or even 2011. OSU may have known inside there would be consequences but I do not believe anyone knew the full ramifications. If they had known that, wouldn't they also have taken the bowl ban in 2011 to be eligible in 2012?

Do you think Athletic Depts. know about stuff like this and plan that far in advance?

What are the opinions of the MSB

I don't think he quit knowing that OSU would come open.

God told him in a dream to:

1). Quit at UF
2). Get OSU job
3). Make Saban's arse quit

total nonsense. Meyer quit after the 2010 season, a year in which you can argue OSU may have been the best team in the nation. Tressel was not going anywhere if his lying wasn't exposed.

And getting out of the SEC was the only antidote.

Sometimes it might be a good thing for coaches to move on, staying in one job too long is not healthy and sometimes the message needs to change. The year away for Meyer was probably a blessing in disguise.

Same thing with Saban, nothing is good enough anymore at Bama unless you win the last nat champ game. That's a shame.

So when does he get the word ND is opening and he quits OSU? Probably need to take a year off between jobs.

There was no way of knowing that Tressel was leaving. However, Tressel was only going to coach a few more years anyway.

I figured Urban did want some time off waiting the for tOSU job to open...it just happened to open sooner than later. When it opened...he had to act or it wouldn't come open again for awhile.

Yeah, I could definitely see him taking the ND if it was open when he was unemployed, but now it would be a sideways move, maybe even a down grade.

How's it feel with both of your teams having urban dangle his dice on their faces?

There are more than a few college football sources who claim that ND was UM's dream job but when the school's admin refused to lower its admission standards, UM passed on the position. He wanted to bring in his "type " of players & they could not get in to ND. Reference his "type": in his last 2 yrs at UF, there were 31 players arrested.
