What's the History of Vegas Favorites to Win Super Bowl

Panthers are currently about a 6 point favorite over Denver.

I'm not a gambler but Super Bowl seems like the biggest weekend of the year and I know enough to know Vegas never loses.

If the line stays at 6 or moves higher, is this considered a good sign for gamblers?

Not necessarily, they win over the course of time but them losing on one game is totally possible.

Depends on which side you've got money on.

This game will be a 3-4 win... probably the panthers, but could easily be Denver.

Both teams run the ball and play really good defense... shortening the game and keeping the scoring down... 6 is way too high.

So if the reports last week of 94% of the money coming in being on Carolina is true, what does that tell you?

Here is your answer

Favorites have gone 33-15 straight up and 26-18-2 against the spread in the Super Bowl. The ‘over/under’ has gone 25-23. The biggest upset came in Super Bowl III (1969) when the New York Jets beat the Baltimore Colts 16-7 as 18-point underdogs.

That 80% of the money hasn't even come in yet.

Based on favorites usually winning the superbowl, my guess is vegas prob loses most of the game bets, but get a lot back on totals and props.

I don't even need to know the number Vegas is using. I'd take the team getting only 6% of the bets.

With that high a percentage on one side, the line has to be inflated, which means value on on the Broncos.

Overall the favorite is up, but the dog has outperformed the favorite by a wide margin since the mid 90s.

Vegas is almost always pulling for the underdog because the public loves to bet on favorites.

Read an article after the Bama Clemson game they like the favorite to win but not cover. That way they win the speed bets and don't have to pay out money line bets on dogs.

I agree a favorite winning but not covering is the best case scenario for the house.
