I win this one & it was the last football bet I placed. More years ago than I care to think about, had a rough day & put 1K on a Tulane game to get even, yeah, deperate. Have the opponent +3, 10 seconds remaining, the Wave is up by 1 point at the opponents 12. Take a knee & we both win. I am driving back to NOLA from Tiger stadium, listening on the radio & had to pull off the road when the brilliant Wave staff sends the FG team on the field. Kicker shanks a chip shot FG & we both win.
That was the end of my weekend "hobby".

I added my 2 cents but didn't really give mine so I'll chime in on the one that sticks out the most. I've lost more $, but this is the one that sticks in my craw the most.

A couple years ago I was on a heater and the people up at work didn't believe I could pick like I was. There was a used boat on craigslist I wanted to buy, it was $3,000. This was during the conference tournaments before march madness. I went into work on a Friday night and told everybody I was going to turn $20 into a new boat by the end of the next night.

Saturday comes around and I start off by parlaying a couple early game, 1st half lines and hit. took that and bet on the second half and hit.....long story short I'm up $500 around 5pm and I throw in a $200 3 teamer and a $300 3 teamer, each with Oregon -3.5 against Washington.

First 2 hit on both and by this time I'm at work, waiting on Oregon -3.5. I get off work and Oregon's up 3 with 2 seconds left as I watch on my phone, with all hope lost. Washington hits a 3 and sends it into overtime. I'm heading home, passing the Mirage where I made the bet so I pull in.

By the time I get to the sports book Oregon's up 7 with the ball with under a minute left and I'm shitting. Inbounds, foul, 1/2 freethrows, up 8. Washington hits a 3 with 20 secs or so to cut it to 5. Oregon misses 2 free throws, washington misses shot Oregon rebounds ball with less than 3 seconds left. Misses first Ft, makes the second. Up 6, less than 3 seconds left, figuring how to get a trailer hitch on my car to pull the boat.

Washington inbounds the ball, Oregon basically walks off the court with the game in hand, Washington guard picks up inbounded ball just inside half court, throws up a heave, and swishes it. Oregon wins by 3. If they had left even a second on the clock Washington would've fouled and given them a chance to hit FTs for me.
