Are people too stupid to realize this was a called play?

I guess so... I guess the entire CBS crew, 95% fans on this board, and probably 80K fans in Seattle are just stupid fricks???
If they think that was free-lanced by Colston, then yes, they are stupid fricks. Sorry.

Was it also called to throw the ball at least 5 yards forward?

There was no doubt at it, and shouldn't have been any in his mind either. At that moment that Sproles was that far down field he could just as easily step out.

the chance that we would have scored a td if he had stepped out is less than if that play wasnt a forward lateral IMHO. It was a good call IMHO

Your honest opinion is fricking stupid

you are stupid. ill take my chances with a speedy guy in the open field over a hail mary that brees would likely not have been able to get to the endzone.

Is a 35-40 yard throw really a Hail Mary when you have receivers 2-3" taller than all the Seahawks DB's?

It was poor execution by Colston no doubt, probably the guy the lateral was intended for was out of position.

Make no mistake though, this was one of SP's fancy play calls that failed as usual. Colston didn't make it up.

It will be interesting if he takes the heat. It's rare if he or Brees ever does.
