What school has the highest standards for ATH admission: Duke, ND or Standford?

While Duke didn't go to a BCS bowl they certainly showed enough to be mentioned. ND and Stanford are contending for Natties but I wonder what their admission standards are for ATH? Which of these schools has the highest standards for admitting student ATH?

Stanford has the highest academic standards of all those schools. The athletic department cannot technically guarantee scholarships to students until the admissions department accepts them. It is harder to get into Stanford and Duke than it is to get into ND and stanford is slightly harder than Duke to get into.

I remember reading that Stanford cannot take a kid if he did not take AP classes in high school. Am I off on that?

I don't think that is 100% true.

My friend went there on a scholarship for a non-revenue sport, and when the SAT was on a 1600 scale, got like a 1270. Respectable score, but he wasn't getting in without athletics.

My friend was dumb as a rock in HS, like 1.7 gap or some garbage, and Stanford wanted him BADLY for baseball. He didn't want to go there but he could had. This was in 95 though so things might have changed.

They are all the same and are the same as LSU, Bama, and auburn as well. This is the biggest myth regarding recruiting. For football, if they are NCAA eligible they can get into Stanford or ND. Now for non-revenue sports, once at least needs to be respectable like a 3.3 gpa and middle of the pack SAT

There are probably a few bottom of the barrel where that's not the case, but yeah, for most players, if you can get into LSU, you'll get into ND for football. I will add ND does not recruit JUCO at all though, because of academics, which is probably where the biggest setback in academics comes from, and sometimes transfers can be limited depending on the credits they have. But as far as kids coming out of HS, it's normally not a big deal.

ND's academic standards are often talked about as a difficulty for the Irish (such as this thread and on ND message boards, where it's often used as an excuse), which I think is kind of funny, because it's really the opposite. ND's academics are one of the only things it has going for it (compared to other top football schools) in recruiting.

Correct. They can get all the dumb kids they want just like the SEC, but have huge advantages for the 4* offensive guard who wants to get a great education in case football doesnt work out

I can vouch that as of 1997 you had to be accepted into Stanford before being offered a scholarship. Now maybe Duke and ND do this as well but I know not every idiot athlete can go to Stanford.

That isn't true. This 4 star LB committed to Northwestern, but was denied admission and signed with Iowa.

I can find you a link for Eddie Lacy who didnt get into LSU but got into Bama. It is all about how hard the athletic regulations department is willing to fight/cheat in some cases. But i promise you stanford and northwestern have guys on their team with 2.0 and 18 act scores on their team.

I was talking to a Stanford player's parent at the RB and wasn't aware the coaches won't even talk to them if they don't have a minimum GPA (I want to say 3.4-3.5 for the FB team). Also, the acceptance part was pretty significant too (not all got in right away, some had to retake to ACT/SATs, etc.).
