Yep this is what I'm doing if I'm coach. We're getting the ball up the floor as fast as we possibly can to see if we can get an easy bucket every single possession. If not then we're going to pull it back and we're going to run 4 out 1 in motion. That's assuming my 1-3 can handle the ball and drive to the paint. The 4 will be my primary ball screen and permanent ball screen if we get to 12 on the shot clock. He would give versatility because he'd have the ability to roll or pick and pop a mid range jumper.

Defensively, if I have the depth I'm going to press all night long. I might even take on the Frank Martin and Andy Kennedy defense (foul until it's no longer called a foul). If my opponent has skill players in the backcourt we'll play man most of the night. If they can't shoot or have gone cold we'll switch to a 2-3 match up zone until they start consistently knocking down jumpers.

Well from my experience you really have to fit your offense you the players you have. Your talent and ability will change from year to year and as a coach you have to adjust your stuff. Everything looks good on paper. It's all about execution. We try to run sets that get our best players the ball in the places that they are most effective and put in wrinkles from there that can take advantage of how opposing coaches could adjust to those sets. You also always need a few motion sets to kill clock if need be. Zone O IMO should consist of a basic setup to try to get the ball to the short corner or high post while always keeping the ball moving or attacking gaps. You also need to have a few quick hitters that can be used against all zones. I love skipping and sealing or skipping and screening. I also think overloading a zone is a waste of time and easy to guard.

I run a high-low post motion offense. Backdrop cuts all day.

1-3-1 half court trap on d and fall back to a 3-2 looping zone.

Explain the 3-2 looping zone to me. Not many teams run a true 3-2 anymore.

Looping 3-2
Top 3 guard in "loops"
top guard roams from key/high post left/high post left
Wings roam from Wing/corner/backside low post
Posts can jump out to the corner and backside wing drops. It takes a while but kids get the idea with enough practice.
It works best against a shooting team, and if you have animals for guards who can pressure the ball. Creates turn overs

Is it set up more like a 1-2-2 to start? I like the concept but haven't had a salty enough group of guards to try something like this yet. We run a pretty traditional 1-2-2 and if we wanna speed the game up we trap the corners.

High-low motion

After watching self for the past 12 years, I wouldn't want to run anything else.

They will be well conditioned and this is a perfect world we're talking about here so in that case I'm playing everyone on the roster

3-2 looping zone

This and crash boards is my mantra. Unless keeps teams from just cutting to the middle and collapsing the zone, and when run correctly suffocates back cuts on the baseline.

You'll get lit up if the opposing team can shoot like the warriors from deep, but I'd rather they prove to me they can stay hot.

On offense, gimme pace/space like RTR said, unless I have talent in the post. Not ashamed to score ugly, high percentage points while hopefully getting the opponent in foul trouble trying to stop you on the block.

Otherwise, we're running plays out of the Spurs' "hammer" set all day

The Spurs hammer stuff is awesome. They do it better than anybody in the NBA.

The Hawks run it damn well, too

Best thing about the hammer plays is the way they force even a good defense that knows what's coming to pick their poison. Takes a team with a high bball IQ to recognize all their options, but the options will almost always be there.
