What can the NBA do about the Eastern Conference?

The difference of competition in both Conferences is down right embarrassing. Whether it's the owners or general managers on the verge of total retardation, whoever is in charge of building these teams needs to be terminated.

it can do away w/conferences and simply take the top 16 teams in the playoffs.

divisions were really only set up to save money on travel costs and w/how much money the NBA makes now there really is no reason to have them anymore.

The East was actually pretty decent this year. The Cavs are just playing ridiculously dominant basketball right now.

They might be the best team in the NBA at this point in time. They are peaking STRONG right now.

I don't know. The top of the West is definitely better, but the East isn't as bad on the bottom as the West is.

The East (all playoff teams) actually improved in the W/L column if you followed at all. The main issue is putting it together in the playoffs. Every playoff team finished with a winning record. The West was more likely to have a playoff team finish with a losing record.

The West was slightly ahead of the East head to head this season.

Meaning, the East is improving. Not much needed to be done.

They could make Bosh and Whiteside 100% healthy. A healthy Miami team is probably an elite team.

OP apparently thinks it's 2003-2008 out here and multiple sub .500 teams are making the playoffs.

You waited until after the strongest season the east has had in recent memory to start this thread, because the other teams can't produce a title contender that can match LeBron + the highest payroll in the league?

Just give Cleveland some credit, they've been dominating.

Ha. I love how people are making the argument this year. The Cavs are arguably a top 2 team in the NBA, and the bottom of the West playoff teams weren't exactly lighting the world in fire.

Forget the competition level, what's the difference in TV ratings those two conferences have seen in these playoffs?
Hell the Miami Toronto series was tight but it just wasn't exciting. The west hasn't been much better this year so far, but they've had great fun games to watch. The WCF just seems like a better product

I would've delighted in the fact to only 6 west teams and 10 east teams would've made it to the playoffs if they only took the top 16 teams from the entire NBA.

Surprised this thread has as many downvotes as it does. Do the downvoters not acknowledge the disparity between the two conferences?

I'd imagine a healthier MIA vs CLE would have been the biggest ratings attraction in the Conf Finals.

Hey now, facts and reason don't belong in this thread.

The only issue with no conferences in the playoffs is that you'd have to make regular season schedules even out, so any East team would play the same amount of games vs the West and vice versa.
