In terms of pure dollar and cents, they definitely should have maxed him. But I do not think that team was some kind of guarantee to win it all.

They would have still had to trade him or Russ but likely could have gotten a bigger haul than Adams, J. Lamb, and 1 year of K-Mart.

I believe they matched up better with Cleveland by far and were the hottest team in the league at the right time.

But you definitely could make the argument LBJ has owned KD his entire career and you'd be correct.

This. Harden is far from a catch and shoot 2 like Klay. If Harden = Klay, he'd still be on the Thunder today.
