Japan lost to Canada 10-4 (probably the first time Canada has ever beat Japan), Iowa beat Chula Vista, CA 5-1 and Kentucky beat Texas 11-1.

Japan, California and the SW teams (TX, La) are usually the best teams on either side of the bracket. They may not make it past their second game this year.

Japan is playing Curacao right now so it could be over soon for them. Usually expect to see these two teams playing for the International championship not second game elimination.

Well yeah, since they have only made it once and won it all, I guess that statement is correct.

They have been tearing it up this year. I didn't realize how underwhelming the teams in the Asia-Pacific region were. I guess that is why Chinese Taipei usually comes out of that region.

South Korea's road to the LLWS:
6/25 - Philippines 16-0 W
6/26 - India 13-0 W
6/27 - Guam 18-1 W
6/28 - CNMI 18-0 W
6/29 - Dubai 11-0 W
6/30 - Thailand 2-0 W
7/1 - Chinese Taipei 7-6 W

1. California - 46 appearances
2. Florida - 22 appearances
3. Texas - 20 appearances

LLWS plays out like college football recruiting and NFL players drafted.

So it's New York vs. South Korea.

New York put their best pitcher out there just to win the US Title. US teams have always pulled this crap and cost them the Int. Title.

South Korea apparently strikes out everybody and then hits homers off everybody.

I feel like this is a Taiwan 70's conspiracy. They can't be touched. At least Japan could be beaten from 2000-2010. Now South Korea can't be beaten by anyone.

They remind me of those big tall Taiwain players in the early 80's...who all threw underhand and jacked every American pitcher for a home run.

It's probably a national all-star team they put together each year. Meanwhile, the US team is just a city or county all-star team. If so, the best 11-12 year olds that a country of 50 million has should dominate..

Spending more than one second analyzing the LLWS is weird

No one plays Little League in Louisiana. Dixie and travel ball are the only options for most of the state.

Do you really think they are all 11-12?

In the US tramd, Little League is not really AllStars, these teams are travel teams. Some of these kids don't even live in the district for those teams they are playing for. Little League allows teams to put whole teams in leagues, thus they put travel teams in. Little League is basically a travel ball tourney with who can skate by with the most kids that look 12 that aren't 12...

No one plays little league anywhere. You don't need to be make excuses. California, Texas, and Georgia are better baseball states than Louisiana in little league and everything else. Not a knock on Louisiana at all, just the truth.

Not saying Louisiana is in the same hemisphere as California and Texas in baseball. Just saying there are very few leagues in the state. It's always going to be South Lake Charles representing LA. Then again, the best high school baseball in the state is played in that area.

South Dakota has one Little League program in the state, Rapid City, everybody else plays VFW Legion Ball.

Probably not. ABC/ESPN decided they could make money by making this particular youth baseball tournament a thing. It's really a creation by media rather than legit "world championship baseball."

I didn't realize ESPN was around in the 1940's.
