It's not the bat flip that made him a douche, many do bat flips. It was the standing at home plate and watching it, the looking down to stare at the pitcher. All before the bat flip happened. That is the moment if it was not the playoffs the benches would have cleared. At that point no team wants to risk suspension. It was a douche move and took away from the homerun. Joe Carter hit it with excitement and class. Bautista was pure douche.

best way to save baseball is to shorten the season and make the games shorter. but that will never happen.

The benches cleared and the toronto fans hith their own players with garbage. This was after they hit two small children in the front row with trash.

Carter ran the bases jumping and screaming like a 12 year old girl who got foamed at a Justin Bieber concert.

The benches would clear, teams would rush at each other, and everyone would be too scared to throw a punch. One player would push another and 20 people would try to separate them.

Bat flips are cool. Like anything, if is used too much it becomes boring

Remember TD celebrations? First it was dancing, then before you know it the pylon is a prop and Joe horn is calling someone.

I was rooting for the Rangers, and the bat flip didn't bother me at all. Whatever, he was excited.

What does bother me is all of the people tripping over themselves to talk about how great the bat flip was and how anyone who disagrees is a relic who hates fun. I pretty much find anyone who tells someone else that the way they enjoy the game to be obnoxious, and I find the aggressively pro bat flip crowd to just be trying way too hard to be cool.

He flipped his bat. It's not really worthy of the attention it has received. I honestly didn't even notice the bat flip until the post game twitter explosion of people lecturing their dads.

Most overrated word in sports. If you can't take a little gloating during a sporting event, then you need to check your priorities.

No, baseball is fine

And looking back, that bat flip was insane. Really fricking amazing inning to see live. Not on the level of jfk or 9/11 or anything like you said but it was incredible.

I only wish it was the Americans who did it. America's pastime should not be played in Canada.

The only people without class yesterday were the fans throwing trash on the field.

Agreed. What's he suppose to do? Bottle up all of his emotion, put his head down, and sprint around the bases? frick that.

I don't think Baseball should look to a guy who "found" his power that late in life as a savior.

Well put. It was an incredible moment to see on tv. So much excitement and relief in that flip. It was epic.

This is just ignorant.
