Was 2000 Oklahoma just a big fluke?

Or has Stoops "lost it"? Just unlucky?
That team was preseason 19. Less talented than any OU team since. Heupel is probably the least talented starting QB of the Stoops era. They had a stout D, grinded out several ugly wins throughout the year.
Stoops looked like the greatest coach ever because it was old fashioned football - heart and guts. They were a team like this year's Iowa in my mind. And they won it all, undefeated. Seems like he's making a long, 15-year mistake trying to keep up with the fast paced spread of the Big 12. It leaves you vulnerable when you have to face a physical team. Should get back to basics.
Can't blame the DC either, Venables was there until 2011

Big Game Bob. He can recruit but can't win a big game. He's so overrated.

I'm impressed with what he has done at a university in Oklahoma that has a rival University in the same small state. In an era where stuff like tradition and tv contracts arent as important at keeping a program relevant in the midwest as much as local recuits. i.e. Nebraska, Colorado.
Granted, he is right next to Texas, so that helps. But still.

Playing in 3 national title games, a CFP, and 5 other BCS since games since 2000 is certainly terrible

So all coaches that have "only" won one national championship game were flukes?

I was going to say, who has been better since 2000 other than USC, OSU, LSU, Bama, Florida and maybe Texas (I realize Stoops has kicked their head in multiple times)?

I don't know. It's puzzling to me because he won one in "ugly" fashion when he was just getting started. You would think logically that he would exceed those heights once they really got rolling. Instead they've fallen short. So you tell me? Just unlucky was an option. I'm not trolling.

I just feel Stoops gets all the benefit of the doubt. For example, they lose to KState in Big XII title game yet get included into BCS title to lose to LSU. Beat Bammer in Sugar with a shitty record and media goes on a fapping rampage to proclaim OU the best team for next season...only to watch them come crashing hard. It is shite like this that I don't care for Stoops/OU. I see this shitty movie too often.

If a team consistently shits the bed that's on the coach. It seems like he got his Natty and and his croots going and then rested on his laurels, stopped being the every day motivator.

What is his record when being favored in postseason play? I honestly don't know, but it seems like it would be awful

Being that Stoops went to 3 more title games and the playoffs, I'd say it wasn't a fluke.

The only difference between Stoops and Richt is that Stoops actually got lucky once and won a NC

The got boatraced in those games though. With more talent than in 2000, but less grit. Hell one of them they made it after getting destroyed in the Big12 champ game by K State.

I just learned that 11-2 is a shitty record.
Idiot.

The dude has owned the Big 12 since he has been there, so I wouldn't call 2000 OU a fluke.
