George said he was aware of the proposed trade, and compared it to the 2011 trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Lakers. Then-NBA commissioner David Stern famously vetoed that trade. – via Oklahoman

Bill Simmons has theorized that Indiana did this as a "frick you" to Paul George.

No shite. A chance to get an All Star for a guy who will be gone at the end of next season? Only reason I could see rejecting it is if Klay's contract runs out at the end of next season so you're trading a half dozen for six. ...

this report should ruffle some feathers. Will be Klay's last year in GS. Will look great in Pelicans uniform

Makes sense and don't blame them after he tanked his trade value

If I were Klay, I would be pissed the Warriors were offering me up. I always figured he would join the Lakers because of his family ties and the fact that he seems like a guy who likes the bright lights.

Would not watch the NBA if that went down

if they actually traded him to get a SIGNIFICANTLY less trade just as a frick you to him then pacer fans should demand KP to be fired immediately

Just lol'ing at the thought of a small ball line up with Steph, KD, PG, Iggy and Draymond.

I don't think Klay would be pissed. No one thinks Klay is as good as Paul George.

And Pacers GM is derelict in his duties if he declined this.

Thompson has two years left on his deal. There's zero chance Thompson would stay with a rebuilding Indiana squad but you could still move him next summer for assets probably. Indiana is dumb

Klay is under contract for two more years. Maybe the Pacers were told that he had no intentions of re-signing there so they would be forced to trade him after one year while he still had value.

Pacers need to rebuild for the long haul, not replace one star for another for just one season.

eta
beat me to it Shane but we disagree on the outcome of that trade
