11/29 Edit: Newest update on Page 6…

LINK

The smoke was real it seems… Karr (and now Warren Easton) will be in the JP district… for that to work they kicked Chalmette to the Catholic League

My questions

A. Did Karr and Easton decide to leave the Catholic League or were they kicked out?

B. Did JP kick Chalmette out or did Chalmette ask to leave?

As a Chalmette fan I can admit, the running clocks and run rules got old, but don’t know if we’re ready for the Catholic League yet… even without Karr there’s still John Curtis in that district… we’re like 1 for our last 50 there. I didn’t think we’d ever get back in in the age of select and nonselect

Louisiana has a Catholic League and a public school league? Can you chose which one to be in?

Edit: downvotes for asking a question. Tough crowd

Someone correct me if im wrong, which i could very well be, but seems like the LHSAA did it so everyone could get a trophy. Some of the teams that make the playoffs now are pretty bottom of the barrel just selected to fill a spot in the bracket.

I don't understand why they would leave when they routinely have rolled over the other Catholic League teams. I think the best teams should play the other best teams so that's lame if they are leaving.

The Catholic league is a district, not a separate league. Like the SEC is a league in the broader NCAA. We have a dumb split between public and private schools for the playoffs though.

Thank you. That makes more sense. Georgia splits private/public for the smallest school classification.

What’s their reasoning to dropping back to 2a when they are dominating 4a?

$$$$

Karr wasn’t making any money in the Catholic League and that’s the way they fund their athletic department.

Because people like that love to beat up weaker teams by 40 in football, but then can’t take it when those other schools whip them in other sports.

See John Curtis.

They were only dominating in football. The rest of their programs were suffering. They would have stayed up in 4A if it was just football but the LHSAA rules require your entire school to play up.

That seems dumb. But it's the LHSAA so I'm not surprised. If I ran it I would set up a system where a school can appeal to play up in a certain sport but stay in classification for everything else.

Should be able to play up in individual sports if you want to. The new district they are in won’t do them or the other teams in good they won’t get better beating up on 2a teams and the other teams in the district won’t benefit anything from it

Yep. Karr didn’t realize that tickets prices were capped and uniform across the league, and students got in free.

In larger districts (8 teams), you play every team? Or only a portion?

Same in Texas if a school plays up an entire conference (5A to 6A). Now if a school plays up a division in 1A-5A (5A D2 to 5A D1) then they stay 5A in all sports as only football splits 1A-5A into divisions.

To end any confusion, if a 5A D1 school wants to play up to 6A in football, then all sports move up since that is a conference change.
