Would you pay $20/month for access to streaming ESPN and all associated ESPN networks/video content?

in a true "a la carte" setting, i'd imagine it has to be higher than that. probably at least $30/mo

isn't their cut of cable somewhere around $17/subscriber?

ETA: I feel like 20 is the optimal "base" price, and I forsee EPSN offering premium content sorta like in-app purchases. they would have a direct line to end consumers to make that happen

$20/month is pretty close. ESPN's subscription revenue is approximately $7.5B. Their highest rated broadcast ever garnered 33 million households. I'd those people would be a la carte subscribers, you're looking at $19/month.

I just read an article at work a few days ago that laid out a survey somewhat like this. It was formatted that if you could save $8 a month and lose espn and 2 would you cut them and it was like 60% yes and the flip was would you spend $20 a month to have espn and 2 that only came out with less than 10%. On my phone now but I will try and post article later.

Article on survey

Yep. I've had it since January and I don't think there has been one game I wanted to watch that I wasn't able to.

Nope. That price point is way too high to be appealing to most cordcutters to be permanent. They will see an influx of customers during the season, then a massive drop in the off-seasons.

SlingTV works at that price because it offers more choices than just sports including an option for children.

This is why cord cutting sucks.

It makes things more expensive.

Networks can charge only 10 cents per subscriber traditionally because they are in 100 million homes. And you have access to hundreds of channels in your cable package.

If people choose channels a la carte, each station gets more expensive and you can't afford nearly the number of channels you could before and many networks will go out of business.

All of those cool shows like Breaking Bad and Walking Dead never would have happened.

HBO is already $15 per month. If ESPN was the same, congratulations, you are paying $30 for two channels.

I would pay $20/month to stream my favorite team's games when they come on, and the best games of the week. Cut out the shows and the crap

Would I still have to watch all those shitty SC6 and First Take commercials that currently air about 15 times an hour?

I'd rather carry a full package of cable and not have to worry about it.

Would a la carte involve dividing up the year?

No more 1 year or 2 year contracts?

If I could have TV for 5 months out of the year with select channels, I'd have ESPN again. But for 5 months and about 10 selected primo channels, it would have to be about $100 bucks for those 5 months.
