Or in net.

Kari is off to a dreadful start this year. Finally got his save % above .900, but still very much suspect.

And Lindback is just plain garbage.

Preds score 9 against Toronto - they gave us cold weather, we gave 'em the pucks.

The best 3rd line in hockey strikes again

Have we all just decided to ignore Hog entirely, because absolutely no one said anything regarding this ludicrous statement. He honestly believes a line with Stvee Downie on it is the best anything in hockey.

Look, the correct answer is easily the Kings, who trot out Stoll-Kopitar-Gaborik, which let's face it, is patently unfair. But that said, would anyone trade their third line, straight up, for the Penguins third line (leaving out salaries)? Right now, would you take Bennett-Sutter-Downie for whatever you have on the third line?

I mean, the Pens no longer have the vast wasteland of utter shite they've been trotting out behind their top two lines the past 2-3 years, but it's still not all that awe-inspiring. I mean, their top two lines are, and their power play is ridiculous right now, but I still wouldn't call this a deep team. Their top two lines, however, have scored 41 goals, which is just absurd. Their PDO is off the charts right now (!070, which is better than the #2 and# 3 teams combined), so they'll come back to earth, but god damn.

I watched the 30 for 30 about John Spano and the Islanders last night...and WOW. That has to be the biggest blunder by a professional league in history.

You almost have to tip your cap to Spano for being that big of a bullshitter.

Pascal Dupuis has a blood clot in his lung and is expected to be out for six months. Geez. That's horrible. I hope he's okay and is able to play hockey again.

Hey, look who's back after his team made it back into the top 3 in the division. I know you'll say it was work and life commitments keeping you away, but in reality it's just adjusting to trotz. As far as the Kings 3rd line - I would rather have Stoll - Kopitar - Gabby over at least half of the NHL's first lines.

Just coming up for air. Last night's game was the first I've watched in its entirety all season. I'm still pretty swamped.

It... wasn't good.

A win is a win. Thanks for Forsberg by the way, doing a fantastic job. As evidenced by last season, Coach T wasn't going to use him anyways

Hey, we got Latta out of that deal!

It was a bad trade when it went down, and it was made worse by Oates' complete refusal to use the asset his GM traded for. Erat was buried on the 4th line. Then again, no one though Forsberg was THIS good. The organization had clearly soured on him in favor of Kuznetsov and Burakovski.

I just like to point out how unbelievably wrong you are about the Penguins anytime you ever mention the Penguins.

Absolutely love it, nothing personal, just hilarious.

Dupuis may not resume his career once this is all over which is sad sad news. He was off to a great start too.

First Maatta with Thyroid tumors, which was so weird and scary, now Dupuis with a blood clot in his lung. Just unreal. So rare and random and to happen so close together.

And Dupuis is loved on the team, by everyone, he's as good a guy as it gets. Hopefully the Pens the can regroup and move forward, but this undoubtedly rocked the clubhouse.

And as usual, the thing you point out is wrong. You can go through the archives, I've pretty routinely been right on the money with the Pens. I'm not shooting 100%, no one is, but I feel I've got a good track record on the Pens as the ultimate stars and scrubs team.

I do like how you now slag on Orpik after talking about how great he was when he worse a Penguins jersey (he's the same player: old and slow). You're getting confused again, you're the blind homer, not me. If you'll note, I even included praise for just how f'n awesome the Pens top two lines are. That doesn't even include defenseman scoring. The Pens top 6 is outscoring a few teams in the NHL. That's just crazy pants. And their power play right now really does look like a cheat code.

Well off the top of my head you said the Pens bottom six was still terrible, when it's near the top of the league in production.

You also said their PK wouldn't be near as good as last year, and it's better.

You also said the Pens were a worse team this year than last, not the case either. This team is significantly better in pretty much every phase of the game.

It's okay though, nothing personal, I understand the hate causing poor judgement and resulting in a biased opinion.

I like how you ragged on him all year last year but haven't said a word about him now that he's in a Capitals Jersey. Goes both ways bruh!

This is why it's hard to hate on Orpik:

quote:

In fact, when Orpik learned that Maatta had been diagnosed with cancer and told he would need up to a month to recover from the procedure, Orpik predicted he’d be back in two weeks.

“I don’t have enough good things to say about the kid, to be honest with you,” said Orpik, who saw Maatta enter the NHL as a 19-year-old rookie with the Penguins last season. “He’s probably as humble and as ego-less as they come.

“He just works hard every day. It’s strange to say someone 19 years old can be a true professional, but he really is. That’s hard to find, especially now. You see a lot more kids coming up now. I don’t know whether it’s social media, but you see a lot more entitlement. I’m not afraid to call it cockiness. And this kid has none of that.”

quote:

“He’s confident in his abilities because of his work ethic and preparation,” Orpik said. “I think everybody was surprised at the amount of success he had. I think everyone thought he would achieve it, just not that quickly.

“I mean, he played with a torn labrum in his shoulder for most of last year. Even the Olympics, people thought that would scare him, the big stage, but he enjoys those moments.

“He’s as respectful a young guy as I’ve ever played with and probably the best work ethic from a young guy I’ve ever worked with. He’s just a nice kid.”

Just watched the Dupuis press conference, tough to watch.

He did all he could to not cry when talking about his family, and not knowing where he'd be if they hadn't found the clot.

Some blank long stares from Geno, Fleury, Sid, etc at the Presser, hope the team can rebound and rally behind him.

Apparently the 2nd time they've found a clot in Pascal, they found one last year before his ACL surgery. He's almost assuredly done for his career.

On the business side of it, he'll go on IR and that will free up 3.7 million in additional cap space for when the Pens make some trades, which will be sooner than later now.
