They have won at least 20 games, 9 years in a row.

21-5 this year.

Playing New Hampshire tonight on ESPNU

Tom Brennan brought them to prominence and Mike Lonergan continued it. Lonergan is doing well at GWU as well. Vermont's upset of Syracuse in the 2005 tourney was awesome. They are no joke.

Lonergan is a good coach. But he was fired by GW for player abuse.

And they almost knocked off Mich. St. in the 2nd round.

"From the parking lot"

The story from Vermont coach Brennan:

quote:

“We had put in a special set for Syracuse’s zone,” Brennan said. “We set a screen and skipped the wing pass to try to get a good shot from the corner. We had run it a couple times and it didn’t work well.

“So I said ‘Run Red,’ which was the name for the set and T.J. He put his hand out like a traffic cop and then he turned and fired.”

“That was not the play,” Brennan said, “until it went in and then it was just what we drew up.”

21-5 with the #213 SOS, not in the top 50 of any reputable rating systems. I have them at #72. So I guess they're flying under my hard drive's radar, too.

Trae Bell Haynes is a sneaky good guard

America East is down this year. Their usual competition, Stony Brook and Albany, are having down years

They could be trouble as a 13 seed in the first round
