“UCLA Athletics learned this week that Under Armour is attempting to terminate its 15-year apparel and footwear contract with us and the Bruin community. We are exploring all our options to resist Under Armour’s actions,” UCLA Athletics Director Dan Guerrero said in a statement. “We remain committed to providing our hard-working staff and student-athletes with the footwear, apparel and equipment needed to train and compete at the highest level, as they — and our loyal Bruin fans — deserve.”

A school feels they can FORCE a private company to maintain a contract they wish to break?

So long as the contract contains a termination clause and UA has complied with it, they can get out if they want.

And it's not like UA is the only supplier. UCLA just doesn't want to deal with Nike since they support their PAC-12 rivals.

UCLA has a ridiculous deal and I’m sure knows they aren’t getting anything close to it with Nike or Adidas so they are going to try get every cent they can out of it

Good. For ALL the resources they have had over all these years and EVEN with a 12 game season plus a bowl game, they have not had a 10 winseason.

They need to go back to Reebok. That’s when their uniforms looked the best.

Whoever signed that deal in the first place for UA should be fired. UCLA has not had a fan base in forever. Their program is a joke in the two main sports, and no one pays attention to the things they do well. There are barely any fans at UCLA games and it has been that way for years.

UCLA wanting to "keep it" has everything to do about getting a buyout. Probably to cover the losses they sustained with the last two buyouts on bad contracts. It's not like this deal was ever about football or basketball because it was signed why UCLA wasn't exactly lighting it up. It was signed because of the athletic heritage, but mostly because it's in LA.

It's fantastic news though, because UA wasn't giving UCLA anyone of note on the AAU circuit.

UCLA barely has a fanbase when they're good.

I remember when UCLA almost won the National Title in 1998 and nobody in L.A. cared. Bill Plaschke declared that L.A. was a UCLA town and will always be a UCLA town. Yeah, how did that statement turn out.

Nevermind football, which UCLA became an afterthought and ghost during the Pete Carroll years but even basketball.

They weren't even selling out Pauley during the Ben Howland Final Four years.

Their students are frankly not there to watch sports. They're there to study hard and make family proud.

25% of UCLA students are International.

Why do people want to make LA happen so bad

Its a terrible city with terrible people everywhere

There is nothing enjoyable or fun about LA and there is nothing enjoyable or fun about being around it

Just because there are 17 million shitty people in a space of shite does not make it happen

I said the same thing about the area when I lived nearby. I don't get the endless love affair with it. It's a way overrated and congested clusterfrick. Leaving was one of the best decisions I ever made.

What is odd is that UCLA hasn’t won ANYTHING in football since like 1965.....,
