If the University did a better job of communicating with former players' donations would come a lot easier. It is a 2-way affair. I'm willing to bet that any former player who left more than 5 years ago aren't even aware of this foundation.

Well first of all if you are required to give money to an organization, that's not a "donation".

Actually they don’t have to donate. They are encouraged to.

It appears they were originally required to but the school crawfished once it took some flak:

quote:

University of Louisiana at Lafayette football coach Billy Napier created a new team rule that required all scholarship players to donate to the school's athletics foundation, he announced earlier this week.

And now the crawfish:

quote:

The school has since backpedaled on its stance, claiming the donation is not mandatory.

If true, heads need to roll.

ULL should return ALL strong-armed "donations" today!

How much?

RCAF is 10 years old. It officially came into existence in April of 2009. I'm also fairly certain Jake Delhomme knows about it.

Apparently misreported. What is being said now is that Napier is strongly encouraging Scholarship players in particular to donate and start a tradition of supporting the school that hopefully extends beyond graduation (or the end of their athletic career ).

@ TBoy@LSU. LSU does it too. Like having to give to TAF or the LSU Traditional fund in order to get the rights to buying tickets.
