Just heard on SIRIUS XM fight club that the UFC will go to 5 round fights for all non-title main events. Also will add a 125lb fly weight divison in the near future.

The bigger news is UFC is looking to buy a controlling stake in G4 and move all their TV stuff from Spike to there.

You beat me too it. Don't see anything anywhere about the 5 round main events. Helwani was just tweeting live updates from the presser every minute and he made no mention of it.

So how many rounds for the title fights?

With all the newly added weight classes, there won't be many main events that are non-title fights. All fights should be 5 rounds imo....with title fights having an overtime round if necessary

You mean a "Sudden Victory" round.

I guess

Similar to what they do on TUF for those 2 round fights.

That way we don't have bullshite draws for the belt (ala Edgar/Maynard)

What if neither fighter distinguishes himself during the sudden death round?

I don't like that moving away from basic cable.

I think that's a terrible idea for heavyweights they can barely make it 3 rounds right now.

Then it can be a draw? Or both just get executed on the spot?

Seriously though, somebody will have to have the better 6th round 99% of the time....that's 30 minutes of fighting

I generally just hate the round point system. Judge the fight for overall performance not just round by round.

7th round only now they place a ladder in the center of the octagon with a coal miner's glove at the top.

G4 is basic cable. They just have half the cable penetration as Spike. UFC would do that deal to get in bed with Comcast, the parent company of G4 and VS.
