1. UFC pay is more evenly distributed than in boxing.

2. The UFC is a "league" essentially. In boxing, Mayweather puts on his own fights, and can keep all of the profits.

Different sport; different economics... Viacom is worth 42 billion; they aren't paying their fighters any better than UFC.

I figured as much. Thanks. I didn't mean to derail the thread. If uniforms doesn't take away from the income of the fighters, then I'm all for it.

I don't know the sport, so maybe they are compensated fairly enough. I just think it's odd considering it's a billion dollar industry now.

You still sound like you know more than some of the goofballs that frequent the mma threads here lol

do ufc fighters have a union?

if they dont, they will soon

unless this is a beastly deal for the fighters (these things never are) then i could see this being a shitshow down the road

As long as the ufc has a monopoly over the sport, and they keep buying out all of their competition, it's not looking good for fighters and their leverage.

KBeezy needs to chime in on this with his opinion.

How is ufc a monopoly when their competition is worth 40 billion dollars on a major cable network.

Bellator is not worth 40 billion just because Viacom is.

Well there's technically nothing to stop them from spending more money for fighters than UFC.

His deal expired about 4 months and wasn't renewed.

I personally think it's rather silly. Do pro boxers have to wear a specific brand?

If they want to set guide lines for what type of shorts (tights, board shorts, etc) I'm fine with that but if they want every fighter to dress exactly the same then it's stupid. Hopefully they will have multiple options to chose from as far as style and design.

Yeah, they said they'd have different styles for men & women to wear (guessing they won't have Dennis Hallman's favorite style.

I don't like it cause the rankings are already super shady. The lower tiered guys don't get paid much as it is, and I don't have much faith in Dana giving them more than they can get from multiple random sponsors on their shorts, shirts, hats, banners, etc.

Wonder if the fighters will stop drinking all that random crap during the post fight interviews & press conferences now.

The 4 fights on the Main Card are almost all guaranteed to be fun fights.

Heavyweight Junior dos Santos vs. Stipe Miocic
Lightweight Rafael dos Anjos vs. Nate Diaz
Heavyweight Alistair Overeem vs. Stefan Struve Heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Matt Mitrione

Really looking forward to this card, minus the 20 hours of commercials
