Benson Henderson to Bellator. I know this might not seem to be a big deal to some, but I think we are going to see a lot more UFC guys go over due to the Reebok stuff. The ability to have sponsors with Bellator is huge. I want the UFC and Bellator to succeed because I love MMA, and I think competition is a good thing.

Ditto

Henderson can probably get $75k-100k from his sponsors. His Reebok pay was $15k. At the highest Ben was making $100k/$100k. After losing his belt he was down to $45k/$45k.

Absolutely. These fighters have such a small window to make money, they need to maximize their earnings while they can.

I still think Bendo is a legitimate title contender, that is why it is big to me even though I know he wasn't the huge draw ratings wise for the UFC. I hope more UFC fighters who are being underpaid will follow suit. I hate to see a lot of these promising young fighters retiring early because they can not pay the bills. Hopefully competition will lead to better fighter pay, which will lead to a petter product for the fans.

So Sage was super sick with strep throat and couldn't breathe at all during the fight which is why he tapped so quickly. His nose was shut before the fight and his throat was still swollen almost closed so that little choke made it impossible for him. Props for not pulling out but maybe not the best move long term.

I'm assuming that Cormier v. Jones II will happen next, and then Rumble gets a shot at the winner of that?

That's 100% the plan and Rumble is willing to sit out all year to wait for the title shot if needed

I was trying to watch his interview with Ariel Helwani today on the MMA hour, but the feed kept cutting out. I will watch it later tonight. If he is worth anything, all of this adversity and hate he is receiving right now will only make him stronger. I remember GSP getting a lot of hate before he finally got over the hump and beat Hughes too.

there is nothing left for him to prove at 205 unless he gets a shot at dc for the title or a shot at jones.

Also, if anyone is interested in a bridge in Arizona, this one has a great view of the Atlantic...

Jones-Cormier date is going to be announced this week for either April or May; Rumble might as well wait..fight would be in late summer I'd guess

UFC had the rights to match Bellator's offer and didn't.. that is pretty much the only reason why he is in Bellator.

That's a damn shame. He may not be the champion, but he's top 5 in the division and this definitely waters it down. I hope more guys follow suit. UFC is screwing their fighters.

I didn't even realize he was making the move up. That said, the welterweight division isn't exactly stacked right now.

He is going to fight 170 and 155. His first fight will be against Koreshkov for the WW title.

The welterweight division isn't stacked? Are we watching the same UFC?

Rory McDonald
Robbie Lawler
Johnny Hendricks
Tyron Woodley
Carlos Condit
Demian Maia
Stephen Thompson
Thiago Alves

If anything, I feel the Welterweight division is one of, if not the deepest in the UFC.

I agree. This has pretty much been the speculation for a few months that he would sign with Bellator. Not saying Bellator pulled off a coup or anything. He is not a needle mover, and that is why they did not match. But they are going to start losing a lot of up and coming guys like Aljamain Sterling who are outspoken about UFC pay and the Reebok deal. Are they going to want to resign a guy who badmouths the company and its sponsors? Probably not. A lot of fighters might start using that as an "out". The people the UFC really wants to keep, they pay. The lower weight classes for the most part do not sell a lot of PPV, so I could see the UFC let a lot of these guys walk.

You left out Hector Lombard, Nick Diaz, Matt Brown, and future champion Phil Brooks.. and possibly GSP.
