tough situation... but this is going to start happening more as you add more rules or make them more complicated. refs are going to make mistakes. they need to come up with a specific procedure for these types of things. as soon as the fight is stopped replay should confirm legal or not. if legal, the ref should approach the fighter with the dr and verify he is ok to restart the fight at that moment. if he isnt then fight over.

IMO it's not Dan Miragliatto fault. It LOOKED illegal in real time. Once they found out it was legal they should have made Wiedman get up and fight. If he couldn't then a TKO is the right call

Download AcePlayer. It can play all sorts of media, but can also play live streams.
For UFC, search reddit MMA streams.
You'll see a few Ace stream ID #s. It's a long alphanumeric code. Copy that.

lets go rumble. most exciting fighter in the ufc. I think a full camp to prepare for cormier will be the difference. plus cormier seems more focused on jones.

yeah, thats how I feel. refs job is to protect the fighter first.

this exposed a flaw in the "2 hands down" rule. he threw the knee when both hands were down, just because he was able to pull one hand off the mat right before it landed doesnt change the fact it was illegal when he threw it. do they really want people trying to time picking up hands while throwing knees and being right 50% of the time?

what if he missed? is it still illegal in your scenario? I just think the hands down rule is stupid.

Also, it has to be PALMS on the ground, not just your fingers to be grounded. Weidman can hit the weights and get a clue.
