MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view, 10 p.m. ET)

BMF Title: Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje
Alex Pereira vs. Jan Blachowicz
Derrick Lewis vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima
Tony Ferguson vs. Bobby Green
Michael Chiesa vs. Kevin Holland

PRELIMINARY CARD (ABC/ESPN/ESPN+, 8 p.m. ET)

Gabriel Bonfim vs. Trevin Giles
CJ Vergara vs. Vinicius Salvador
Roman Kopylov vs. Claudio Ribeiro
Jake Matthews vs. Darrius Flowers

EARLY PRELIMS CARD (ESPN+, 6 p.m. ET)

Matthew Semelsberger vs. Uros Medic
Miranda Maverick vs. Priscila Cachoeira

I don't know what Salt Lake City did, but they arguably boast the best non-title card in a long time (The BMF title doesn't count), and one of the better cards in a long time.

I know Derrick Lewis has lost three straight but getting him on the prelims is a treat. Pereira a weight class up will be interesting facing the only other guy who has beat Adesanya. Each main card bout has a fighter that brings some solid entertainment value

As long as Derrick Lewis isn't fighting in Houston, he's should do OK. That place is just a curse for him.

Dana is also a fricking moron for not making the Pereira v Jan a title fight for the vacant LHW belt.

Was it too late in camp to make the Pereira vs Jan fight a 5 rounder title fight?

Yes - he vacated 10 days ago

Salt Lake City has a very high altitude.. no way both sides would agree to 5 rounds in such a short time.

Totally different fan bases and zero conflicts. Not a single person will be impacted by two PPV happening concurrently

Not sure how the times will fall but I cant imagine skipping out on poirier vs gaethje to watch any boxing match. If you like fighting poirier vs gaethje is a top 5 matchup. Its guaranteed to be exciting. The rest of the card is fire also.

Chael P. Sonnen said it is because they would have to make a LHW title fight the main event which would screw up the current main event contract stipulation.

Maybe more to do with the number of rounds?

Hosting a fight night for this bad boy. I think Gaethje may get him this time. Huge fan of the Polish Power but he’s 40 now, I think Pereira handles him. Would love to see wonderboy get a win, he’s been the veteran gate keeper for awhile now. Ferguson vs green is whatever, they both suck, I’ll be rooting for Tony though. Chiesa vs Holland is interesting. Chiesa needs a win bad to not drop 3 in a row

Totally missed Hill rupturing his Achilles. That fricking sucks I love that dude and was looking forward to seeing him defend the belt

It's part true - there were several issues, but they also weren't going to agree to a 5 round less than 2 weeks out

What stipulation?

They'd have to market Jan vs Pereira as the headliner over Dustin vs Gaethje since it's a real title - it's a contractual thing

I know Conor vs Diaz main evented over Holm vs Tate - but Conor was champion at the time - I'm not saying any of it makes sense, I'm saying what I was told (Conor vs Diaz was also before UFC was sold to Endeavor)

Ufc 200 brock fought co main over daniel cormier vs silva which was for lhw belt and tate vs holm headlined.

There have been quite a few instances where things were done differently. I just think neither guys deserves to step into the title. Jan had a boring draw in his last fight (i was there me along with many other people walked out during the fight) and got handled easily by glover in his title defense. Pierera just got ktfo and never fought at lhw. The division is in turmoil thats for sure. I think they will want to do something with jiri maybe against winner of this fight assuming the winner looks decent.

Gaethje poirier is probably a top 3 matchup in the ufc. Id have a hard time picking 2 other fights id rather see than that rematch and jan vs peirera isnt one of them and shouldnt be main event belt or not with poirier gaethje on the card.

Tate vs Nunes headlined because it was the only title fight - the Cormier fight was a late addition that wasn't for the title

Look, the reporter I talk to is on mentioned on every UFC card - he has sources, I'm just relaying what I can

It could be tied to PPV points as well, which would then change the prize money owed to the two actual main event fighters. The juice was not worth the squeeze.

No source on this one.

Fun facts poirier is 4-0 in rematches. Twice against conor and 1 each vs eddie alvarez and max holloway, all easy wins.

Justin gaethje has been awarded a performance bonus in every fight he has fought in the ufc.

Man I cant wait for this fight.

that left that poirier stung gaethje with was a thing of beauty. great timing off of the leg kicks that justin had alot of success with.

i think it was the round right before dustin looked dejected

from the max fight but too good not to post
