3 good fights stick out to me.

Usman vs edwards usman had that in the bag and edwards got "lucky". usman def has the tools to beat rocky but will the way he lost have a mental effect on him? I dont think so I see usman as a mentally tough dude.

fiziev vs gaethje. fiziev is skilled but taking a huge step up in competition. gaethje has only lost to some of the best all time and all title holders. His worst loss was to eddie alvarez who was a beast and its not like gaethje didnt do well in that fight. most of fiziev finishes are late in the fight and Im not sure if he will be able to withstand gaethje striking for the duration of a fight. I think gaethje is a live dog for sure.

dolidze vs vettori should be another good one. vettori is just such a tough dude and has never been finished. vettori has also been pretty decent with takedown defense. tough one to pick but should be a good fight.

surprised you picked barbarena over nelson. seems like nelson would be able to handle barbarena pretty easy with his grappling.

I think Gaethje vs Fiziev will be a FOTY candidate

Gaethje is past his prime
while Fiziev is on the way up. Fiziev set up’s and combos are well though out vs Gaethje who telegraphy swings for the fence . He’s also is a coach at Tiger Muay thai. And he’s from that central Asian region where boys do nothing but fight growing up.

ive only seen gaethje get beat by probably the top 3 lightweight fighters in the divisions history(charles, khabib, poirier) and eddie alvarez, former champ and legend of the game.

fiziev has looked decent against middle of the road fighters. he got tko'ed by a nobody and riddell kept it pretty close most of the fight. Ill have to see it to believe it.
Interesting matchup to say the least.

hrmmm

Khabib, obviously the goat
Penn, when he cared in his mid to late 20s, I saw him live against Diego.. he was two levels above just about every 155'er on the planet
Makhachev with an asterisk, have to put him over Bronx for now

I've known Poirier since he was an amateur living in Carencro fighting at Blackham, Top 5 is probably fair but not Top 3

penn was good back in that era but no way i would rank him top 3, dude had a ton of losses even in his prime, not including the shite show at the end of his career. islam may get there but I cant rank his body of work over charles at this point even though he beat charles late in charles career.

From 2001 to 2010, he had one loss at 155

you need to check wikipedia again he lost to pulver and frenkie edgar twice during that timeframe. so 3 losses and a draw. how many wins?

IN 2010 he had two losses to Edgar, FROM 2001 to 2010 (ok December of 2009, frick sakes) he lost once to Pulver.. has the second longest title run behind Khabib.

and if you're gonna use his fights after that against him, then you have to use Oliveria's losses at 155 before his streak against him.
