I didn't know Cain had that much reach.

There will be a new pairing in the broadcast booth for the UFC on Saturday night, as longtime UFC broadcaster Mike Goldberg is out of the event. According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, FX/Fuel event play-by-play announcer Jon Anik will step in for Goldberg, with Joe Rogan remaining on color commentary for the night.
Though it was initially reported as an illness, UFC President Dana White said that Goldberg is actually taking time off from the UFC.
"He's taking time off and is not working this weekend," White said. "I don't know when he will be back."
Anik, the former host of MMA Live on ESPN2 and one-time play-by-play voice for Bellator Fighting Championships, was hired by the UFC last fall, and began his run with the UFC in January. He's done play-by-play for almost all of the UFC's events on FX and Fuel TV this year along with Kenny Florian, with Goldberg and Rogan remaining the broadcast team for pay-per-view and Fox events.
This will be Anik's first pay-per-view booking for the UFC, and the first time Anik and Rogan have worked together on a UFC broadcast.

Cain really gave away the first fight. Ridiculous to even attempt to strike with JDS. JDS is probably the best HW boxer, and heavy hitter and has a reach advantage.
I think this one is really 50/50. Cain is definitely going to try to stay in tight, work takedowns, and extend the fight into the 4th or 5th round where his cardio advantage can win it for him. Of course it is going to be tough to keep from getting caught for that long even if he is smart and trys to stay tight and work for takedowns.
So I really think it is pretty close to 50/50. Maybe 55/45 JDS, but not much if any more this time around.

I'm interviewing him Thursday. I'll ask him about LHW
I'm still floored that Cain went out like he did in the first fight. Cain has just steamrolled EVERYONE!! That's what makes it still so shocking

Pretty sure he has stated before that he will move to LHW if Cain wins. When did he have issues with his liver/kidneys? Wasn't he cutting improperly to 184 (or so) during his wrestling days?
You should try to find out what he did wrong then, what he'll do differently this time around, & how long it will take him to cut properly to 205 (of course this is only relevant if Cain wins tonight).
quote:gotta wonder how bad that knee injury was & how much it really affected him. The 1 shot he took against JDS when he grabbed his leg looked pretty damn quick to me.

Kinda what I think. I just can't see that Cain went into that fight planning to just stand and swing with Cigano. Pretty much suicide. I don't think he had confidence in his ability to shoot and go for the takedown.
FTR, I like both fighters but am a bigger fan of JDS and am pulling for him.

Can't believe no one is commenting about Goldie

Is there any speculation on that?

Just that he's "taking a break". I wish Rogan would too and just pass the torch to Anik/Florian

Sick of seeing this MMA Nike gear and not being able to purchase any of it.
Any word on if it'll be made available to the public?

Just watched the weigh-in and saw Rogan wearing the Pride shirt.
Gotta love Rogan. And I definitely loved Pride. MMA was never more entertaining than a Pride Grand Prix.

If I had to guess, it would probably be some kind of alcohol/substance abuse issue.

Junior pretty much has steamrolled everyone he has faced too. If Cain can not put Junior on his back, I think it is going to be a long night for him or a short one again if you know what I mean.

I just don't think he had enough time. He tried the one takedown, but JDS was just too quick and got away. JDS is the last person you want to rush, or wildly shoot in on, cause he will definitely make you pay dearly for it.
I expect Cain to throw a ton a low kicks tonight. It will be interesting to see how liberal he gets with his takedown attempts early on. Can't wait for this fight, and can't believe how unbelievably stacked this card is. tUFC has put on some great events lately

Just a heads up, but the Facebook card is about to start in 30 minutes. 3 really good fights, with Duffee making his comeback

Garcia vs Holloway should be interesting.

Holloway should put on a striking clinic
