The long held belief by the networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) was if people knew the game was a blowout they would turn off the game. Thus, they purposely wanted to keep viewers in the dark about what was going on.

It was still a farce because once we knew the score was something like 49ers 35, Cowboys 3, we'd change the channel anyway.

Putting the box with the score, and other pertinent information in the corner of the screen. I hated watching games for 5 minutes not knowing the score. Or the inning/quarter/period.

I still don't like the fake lines that run across the field. It's not something I need to see. And they aren't even official. I just don't like fake graphics right in the middle of the action. The needless strike zone box is just as bad.

Lot of good things already mentioned.

By far the worst invention is the ESPN ticker. It has gotten progressively more intrusive to the point it is now blatant on screen advertising. Even they know it is bullshite as they remove it for their larger events such as MNF and playoff games. I hope to hell the SEC has them remove it for conference games.

They need to come up with options like which camera angle and "no announcer" and "ball tracking" and "player tracking"
