Let's face it, Cubs/Pirates are the best 2 teams in the NL, and the Blue Jays/Rangers are the best 2 teams in the AL.

Cardinals in their current state are not better than CHC/PIT. They had to hang on for dear life to win the division.

Blue Jays are a completely different team post trade-deadline where they added the biggest name pitcher and hitter.

Rangers got a bunch of guys back from injury then added pieces at the deadline. Completely different team that stunk it up in April.

Remember when you created a thread about how Clayton Kershaw was the next prior or lincecum? Or you asked if Ken Griffey and Randy Johnson should be considered hall of famers?

Unfortunately, the Jays are by far the best team left in the American League.

I hate them so much.

The jays will get got eventually.

When teams that depend on the HR run into a hot pitching team in October, they falter.

Trust me, they will run into a hot pitching team. They don't have the pieces to counter.

I do not trust you. At all.

Yeah, Toronto hits a bunch of homers. They also were 2nd in the majors in average and first in OBP by a mile. Obviously first in slugging by a mile.

Does Texas have the starting pitching to shut them down? Don't think so. KC's starting pitching has been shite to end the season. If Toronto gets Houston, they run into an Astros team that also relies heavily on that same home run ball, and who also has had bullpen struggles.

I don't think the Blue Jays will be bounced because they rely on the home run. They're the best all-around team in the American League. WIth Stroman, their rotation is in solid shape too.

I think the Dodgers may be the best team in the NL. All 5 teams are really close though.

I think the Rangers may be the worst team in the AL.

So what you're saying is the 4 best teams in baseball are in the playoffs...and that they will play each other in their respective leagues...which will leave open the possibility for the best team in each league to eventually face off in the world series...seems like baseball really screwed this up with the whole playoffs thing.

If the royals turn it on they are the best team in the AL. Agree cubs/pirates winner should be NL favorite.

This "favorites" crap is BS. The playoffs are a crap shoot. Some team is going to win and whoever guesses them will say "Lookie, I picked the 'favorite'" but it could be any one of about 6 teams and not be a surprise.

It could be anyone of 9 teams (at this point) and not be a surprise IMO. Doesn't mean some teams aren't marginally better, but with such a small gap in talent level and the small sample size of the playoffs, it is definitely a complete crapshoot.
