Yeah, I know of at least a few schools that have locker room sales at their spring game.

UK always has a spring sale at their spring game. If you get there early enough you can pick up some pretty sweet stuff. You also typically see some local coaches there picking up equipment for high schools.
ETA: And as far as player's not getting money from it, the University bought the equipment. Unless the players bought the equipment then I don't see what the big deal is here.
