I think Tulane made a great hire in Willie Fritz. He won 2 juco national championships, Georgia Southern won their 1st bowl game, and 2 undefeated seasons at Sam Houston, watch out.

Tulane wont do anything under him.

And it's not him, it's Tulane, just a stale dead program at the level they are at.

Tulane should be in the C-USA or Sun Belt at best, not the AAC. Honestly more of an FCS team at this point.

I wish them the best and would like to see Tulane resurge a bit. It's good for the state.

Easier said than done when Ole Miss, Miss St., A&M, Arkansas, TCU, Alabama, Auburn, Houston etc. are going after them too.

Easier said than done when Tulane is so far down the pecking order. They arent going to take kids away with other SEC/Big XII offers and even have a hard time going up against some C-USA/Sun Belt schools for kids. They really need to step down in competition to be better. They arent suddenly going to start pulling in Top 50 recruiting classes.

not sure why that would be funny, Tulane has had 1 winning season the last 14 years. They even struggled in the C-USA when they were there. They do a lot better in the Southland conference. It's not easy to recruit to that school.

Well there are both extremes of the argument.

It was the best possible hire by Tulane. Great for a program with some potential and an already very good conference.

It's in a state full of talent and with only one major program. And kids genuinely want to stay home--see schools like Miami and Houston.

I'm not ragging on the hire at all, Willie Fritz is a good coach and I saw him personally here at GSU. Just saying Tulane is a dead program where they are at right now. It's not a benefit being in the AAC for them, just means the competition is that much stiffer and harder for Tulane to get wins against.

Speaking of which Im not sure why guys like Jeff Monken and Willie Fritz dont hold out longer at a program like GSU for better jobs than Army and Tulane where they will both just ultimately end up getting fired at.

A dead program? What the frick does that even mean?
Fwiw, Memphis was in a similar spot as Tulane. Sucked in CUSA, moved to the AAC and then hired a good coach and won in the better conference.
No program is dead. Stupid statement, especially with a new head coach, new Athletic Director and a new president.

Tulane provides a great education of $50,000 plus per year, and has an awesome new stadium, they will do well. Plus as a head coach all you have to fo is win 6 games every other year

None of this matters unless Tulane plays LSU at lease once in awhile. If Tulane thinks they are coming back they will schedule LSU in Baton Rouge for their rent a wins.

But in all honesty I would like to see LSU do a 3 for 1 or 2 for 1 deal with Tulane. I think that they can fit Tulane in, but in the least Tulane should come to Tiger Stadium once every two or three years with no return date if they think they are a new power in football.

I didn't know where Tulane was located for the longest time. I'm not sure I know anyone who went to the school as well. I'm thinking this "great" education is heavily overexaggerated.

Might as well not exist if Forkbeard doesn't know about it.
