I understand the premise and think it's a good strategy at certain parts of the field.

My question is, why do QB's (and most everyone on the offense) absolutely OVER EXAGGERATE their motions, actions, etc...?

It's a dead giveaway every time that you're obviously not going to hike the ball.

Seems to me it'd be more effective if you went to the line as normal like you were actually going for it.

Because the idea is to trick them. If you run up there real fast and act like you're trying to catch them off guard and get a hard snap it can work.

It doesn't work that often but sometimes you can force the defense to waste a timeout or jump offsides.

Once they start doing hard snaps multiple times and motions and shite it's obvious they aren't doing anything

Brees clinched the game against the Falcons a couple years ago by doing just that.

I believe they have made a new rule where the QB cannot make a forward movement. I don't have the rule in front of me, but it's to cut down on the amount of QBs who over exaggerate the cadence when they know the center is never going to snap the ball.

What I hate is when they lineup, don't do shite to draw the team offside then call a TO.

^agree ... why not try the fake/strong signal, then snap it when the defense realizes/thinks it's a fake attempt ...

We had a play back in middle school that always worked. Everybody would hustle up to the line and the QB would just yell 'GO GO GO' and the defense always jumped.
