another team once successfully ran a slant route, therefore it wasn't a bad call.

Love the logic, Fox.

This plus if Brees throws the same pick there still would've been 5:30 left in the game.

I would assume the thinking on that play is that NE is going to sell out to stop the run.

If it's incomplete you have 2 more plays, a TE and the best RB in football and the best running QB in football

It's easy to say it's bone headed because the cb made an awesome play. I have no problems with the call but agree lynch is the preferred option there, but let's stop pretending he's 100% going into the end zone on one play where NE is thinking RUN

Petey just said that. He didn't wanna run against their goal line set. His words. Said they still had 3rd and 4th to do something should the pass fall incomplete.

Yeah I don't see how people act like this is an epic fail call.

Bigger issue was all that Seattle luck that got them to that game that shouka never happened then the lucky deep pass which got them that close at the end to begin with.

He's right though. They had plenty options after the pass. Lynch on a run or a zone read by Wilson.

then you run a rollout so if there is ANY chance of the play being defended you can throw it away

I do think an undue amount of blame is going to the coach and not enough on wilson. I get the logic of taking a shot or two, with 40 seconds left and the pats with 3 timeouts i wouldn't mind not scoring right away either.

In a situation like that for a play like that the qb is coached over and over if it's not there just throw it away. Not only was it not there, it wasn't even close to being there.

I get the call to an extent. Like PC has said, they had goal line guys out there. That being said, why not run a play to the outside? I can understand the pass, but not the pass in the middle of heavy coverage. Get something you have a better shot at completing.

ETA: Steve Young just said it better. You're throwing a high-risk pass. Between the hashes you risk tipped balls and INTs. Go outside for some 1-on-1 or something.
