Only LSU fans would argue their player who wasn't even a finalist is better than the play who won the award.

Sure, I mean, Wing had an amazing year, and just changed games for an undefeated DIV 1 team. I can't believe LSU fans would back him. I can't even believe the SEC coaches voted Wing the best in the SEC, as a Freshman...those dudes are delusional, too. Allen was good for his team, too. Congrats to him.

What's the trophy say on it?

"Ray Guy Award
Honoring the Nation's best collegiate punter

Can't read?

And then there is the "John Holmes" state.

Wing's punts have been returned 18 inches on average.

18 inches son!

Very good job

It was close, but clearly Wing was just a little bit better as evident by the stat that matters the most for a punter: the net

Punt Net Avg is usually credited as a team stat. Our coverage had a few breakdowns (sloppy tackling) and allowed a couple of big returns. Even with that there is only a 1.33 yd difference in that stat. Add the fact that Allen punter 28 times more and his percentages were still better. I am not taking away from Wing at all phenomenal punter and only a freshman. My Alma Maters punter earned the Ray Guy Award. He's only a Junior so Wing will have to wait another year.

The Idaho and Utah State game sealed the award for Allen. In those 2 games, the chart shows he had 18 punts and 13 of those were downed inside the 20 and he still averaged 50 yards per punt. Then against Nevada in the final game, he averaged 52 yards per punt on 7 punts. Nevada had 465 yards of offense, but just 20 points due to bad field position.

Which percentages? Wing was bette at getting it inside the 20

And net is a team stat If the coverage team is forced to makes tackles. That didn't happen at all with Wing. They either fair caught it, or had to let it go

14 punts against the 2 SEC teams. 44 yard average. Long of 72 at MSU and long of 59 at Ole Miss. 7 inside the 20. 1 touchback.

Allen inside the 20 47.44%
Wing inside the 20 46.00%

I would say Allen was better at getting it inside the 20.
