Top Public Golf Courses In Houston

Outside of GCOH, what are the top courses to play in the Houston area?

You really should try to get on at Memorial Park inside the 610 loop. If you are a single, you can get on easily.
Redstone is a great course also.
Augusta Pines (Spring) is pretty nice.
Wildcat is wildly overated. They have done a good job of marketing it for corporate tournaments but Memorial Park and Redstone would be my first recommendations.

I like Cypresswood Tradition best.
Wilderness in Lake Jackson if around Houston.

Haven't played here in a few years and forgot about it. Cypresswood Tradition is one of the best public courses in the area. Good call.

Cypresswood Tradition if you don't mind driving up to IAH, Memorial is the most convenient course in town that's actually in decent condition for the majority of the year. It's long as well.

Then I'd assume your uncle is a member. If not, you're thinking of a different course. Royal Oaks CC is definitely private.

River Ridge was in great condition prior to the flood last summer. Played it back in October and it was pretty torn up still.

I played in the Ronald McDonald House tourney out there a week ago today actually. It's in great shape....but it's an hour outside of town. If you're gonna go that far may as well throw in The Falls in New Ulm as well.

Timber creek is alright. Plus you can go to Killeens after
Memorial is easy, cheaper and great muni
Sharpston is pretty meh but Chinatown is right there so it's worth it
I am pretty interested to see what HGA does with Gus

The Falls was my favorite course in this area...so bummed it closed.
A lot of people think it's gimmmicky, but the trash heap hills of Wildcat are a lot of fun, particularly the lakes course.

Damn, you're right. It was a fun course for sure, but really was in the middle of nowhere.
I think High Meadow Ranch up in Magnolia and now Tour 18 have golf boards you can rent which are like the motorized skateboards you use instead of a golf cart. My BIL and his buddies went out and did it and said it was a kick in the arse.

Is Tour 18 still there?? Used to be a great course!!
