Tonight's incredible performance from Brad Stevens (and discussion in another thread) got me thinking who the top coaches in the NBA are. As of this moment, I think it's:

1. Pop
2. Stevens
3. Kerr
4. Carlisle
5. Spo (I'd probably have Snyder at 6)

I also think it's interesting that there aren't that many terrible coaches in the league right now. Maybe 5 that aren't very good, but there are probably 20 pretty solid coaches in the league. I feel like it is in part to less recycling around the NBA and more assistants being given chances.

Pop and Carlisle are 1A and 1B.

I'd put Kerr at 3 until I see how his coaching adapts as his team's change. Carlisle and Pop have multiple years and have been among the best Xs and Os as the NBA has evolved.

4 I'd put Stevens.
5. I'd go Spo but I can see him being 4. There's a few coaches that are all deserving.

Spo is much better than I thought he'd be, but he deserves as much shite getting off to a bad start as he does turning it around right?

Sounds about right, especially the Kerr part.

Spo >>> Kerr at this point.

Even though I'm a Spurs fan I would put Stevens over Pop in coaching. I'm very impressed with what he has done with that roster.

Now Pop is also President of Basketball Operations, so if you include the personnel side I would take him over Stevens.
