But nobody - except shallow minded people - ever considered the SEC top football until the 1990's...and even then - it was just Florida...which is why you were considered weak. SEC national - (news flash SEC fan) - wasn't considered awesome football in the 1980's and 1990's
I don't think every one considered the SEC weak in the 90s, just those that were either bias or ignorant. I would say that the SEC was the best conference during the 90s, just not as dominate as the last 15 years.
3 different teams were undisputed national champions from the SEC in the 90s- Bama, Florida, & Tennessee. Auburn was also the only undefeated team in '93 but were eligible for post season. 4 of the 10 years the SEC had the best team in the nation, and it was 4 different schools.

Those were also the only three consistently good teams from 1990-1999.
Auburn was undefeated in 1993 but I'd be willing to wager that Florida State, Nebraska, and Notre Dame were all better football teams that year.

But most conferences didn't have that many quality teams year in and year out. BTW Auburn won one game more than Bama did in the 90s.
AP National Titles in the 90s
90- Colorado Big 8
91- Miami Big East
92- Bama SEC
93- Fla State ACC
94- Nebraska Big 8
95- Nebraska Big 8
96- Florida SEC
97- Michigan Big Ten
98- Tennessee SEC
99- Fla State ACC
You could have easily made a case for the Big 8 as the team of the 90s, but the conference collapsed in 95/96 & OU was crap. ACC was a one trick pony, the Big East had Miami & Va Tech.

This is true, when you factor in Alabama's "official" record from 1993 - which was 1-12. Unofficially, Alabama went 9-3-1 in 1993.
From 1990-1999, Alabama's on the field record was 91-31-1.
From 1990-1999, Auburn's on the field record was 72-40-1.
Also...Alabama went to the SEC Championship Game five times in the 1990s (and would have gone a sixth time if the championship game existed in 1991). Auburn only went to the game once.

you set the criteria

you set the criteria, but I am not saying that Auburn's decade was better than Bama's, just pointing out that they won more games than Bama did.
Where did you get this math? I just did it and, even with the forfeits in 1993, Alabama is 83-39 for the decade, while Auburn is still 72-40-1.
Alabama
1990: 7-5
1991: 11-1
1992: 13-0
1993: 1-12 (9-3-1)
1994: 12-1
1995: 8-3
1996: 10-3
1997: 4-7
1998: 7-5
1999: 10-3
Auburn
1990: 8-3-1
1991: 5-6
1992: 5-5-1
1993: 11-0
1994: 9-1-1
1995: 8-4
1996: 8-4
1997: 10-3
1998: 3-8
1999: 5-6

how many games did you have to forfeit? If it was only 8 than Bama did have more victories.

Only the games for the 1993 season. We went 9-3-1 on the field and had to give back 8 of them.

Texas A&M dominates college football.

They're quick to say that they were the "real" SEC champs in 93 though.

You just made a bunch of people mad..
But I'd say the 2000s is between Florida, LSU, and Southern Cal.
Obviously the Zook years hurt UF more than anything else.

It's really difficult to give it to any one team because no one really dominated the 00s.
- LSU went 8-4 in 2000, 8-5 in 2002, and 8-5 in 2008.
- Florida went 8-5 in 2002, 8-5 in 2003, and 7-5 in 2004.
- USC went 5-7 in 2000 and 6-6 in 2001

LSU won the SEC in 2001, won the Sugar Bowl & finished #7 in the nation.

I agree with all of them but the 70s, Oklahoma would get my vote. Best winning %, 7 seasons they finished in the Top3 in the final AP poll.
