Pro and college are different. Much different psychologically. You have a direct connection to LSU. You attended, you ARE a part of LSU. If you had grown up an LSU fan, but went to college somewhere else, it would be natural to still have an affinity for LSU while being a fan of whatever school you attended.

In the pros, the city connects you to a team and vice-versa so it's easier to switch your identity, as long as they aren't the hated rivals of your previous team. Its easier to follow the local team.

Completely agree. I grew up a big Longhorns fan, went to LSU and it all changed.

Tony is on TV and radio. TV is about acting. Tony is an actor. FTR, I watch and enjoy PTI, except when they pretend that PC stuff matters.

How is this possible? I understand he lives in DC now but how can someone just start cheering for a new team all of a sudden?

How do teams like the Nationals or Pelicans even get fans by your definition? These are the guys who represent your city and ingratiate themselves into your community. Of course you're more likely to cheer for those folks as you get older than some team you saw on TV when you were younger.

I was a Mets fan in my youth. I switched to a different team back in the mid 90's when the Mets were a shitshow rife with wifebeaters and drug addicts.

I'm guessing that Keith Hernandez spit on him with a magic loogie.

Lived in Denver for a little while and made the Broncos "my AFC team." I'll always be a saints fan but it's kind of fun keeping up with a competitive NFL team.

Considering the Nationals have only been in D.C. since 2005, I imagine most of the fans had a different team prior to the Expos moving to D.C. and rebranding as the Nationals.

I was an Expos fan up until they died. I can not be a Nats fan.
I ended up becoming a Braves fan when the Expos ceased to exist.
If Montreal ever gets another baseball team I will be a fan of them instead of Atlanta.

The psychology of if all is even weirder in Arkansas where the Razorbacks are more like the de facto pro team for the state.

I've been a Mariners fan since 95 despite living in Louisiana. Was an Orlando Magic fan until the Hornets game along.
